In an uncommon leadership move, Lt. Col. Jonathan Piekarczyk and Lt. Col. Brian Belongia swapped squadrons during a combined change of command ceremony Oct. 2, 2026, at JBSA-Lackland, Texas. Piekarczyk took command of the 92nd Cyberspace Operations Squadron, and Belongia took command of the 834th COS. Col. Michael Carlson, 567th Cyberspace Operations Group commander, presided over the ceremony.

The ceremony marks a new era for the 567th COG. The Cyber Protection Teams formerly assigned to the 834th COS moved to the 92nd COS, while the 834th COS now houses the group's weapons and tactics, training and readiness, and standardization and evaluation functions. The 834th COS also leads tactical intelligence for the group's defensive cyber operations.

Group leaders said the realignment enables the 567th COG to build world-class warfighting leaders more effectively, optimize readiness for modern conflict, lead in Super Intelligence and ultimately deliver defensive cyber effects for the Air Force and joint force.

Light 'em up.

Col. Jonathan French, 67th Cyberspace Wing commander, delivered the keynote address Oct. 1 as The U.S. Air Force Warrant Officer Training School Class 27-01 graduated at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama.

French told the 19 new warrant officers that autonomy, unmanned systems and AI are changing how wars are fought, and that all of those capabilities depend on technology. Their value, he said, is not in knowing more than everyone else but in leading Airmen and teams through hard technical problems.

"You have to master the machine, and you have to own the judgments that we are putting upon you," French said.

Congratulations, Class 27-01. Read more from the Air Force Accessions Center: https://www.afaccessionscenter.af.mil/News/Article-Display/Article/4620061/warrant-officer-training-school-celebrates-newest-graduates/
