Hit 250 Doors Today!

…and now…

Twas the night before Election Day, and all through the house,
Not a surface was clean, not a chair in the house.
The yard signs were stacked in HQ with care,
In hopes that a last minute voter might see them out there.

The volunteers nestled all snug in their beds,
While polling data danced in my candidate head.
And I in my jammies, with a snack and my phone,
With my kids tucked in bed, I’m finally alone.

The T-shirts still blank, but the tote bags are pressed,
An early morning ahead, but I’m thankful and blessed,
With the support of you all, I’m slightly less stressed.

I think about the work that we have done,
The days we spent door knocking out in the sun.

“Did we knock enough doors?”
“Did we send enough texts?”
“Did I neglect too many chores?”
“What’s about to happen next?”

On stickers! On tote bags! On buttons and yard signs!
On coffee refills and long poll lines!
Checked my name on the ballot! Now the end is in sight!
Now hustle! Now bustle! We’ve got one more night!

As exhausted brains racing through to-do lists fly,
I can’t do it all, but you know that I’ll try!
So up until midnight my worries all flew,
With a heart full of hope and some caffeine too.

And then, in a moment, a calm did appear,
A reminder that I’ve given all I could here.
We’ve knocked and we’ve called, I won’t even complain.
I left it all on the field in a blur of campaign.

I’m just a teacher, a mom, and a wife
But there’s something so extraordinary
About an ordinary life.

A spark lit within me, and in it has grown
A flame full of fight from the seeds that were sown.
A brighter Indiana is ours if we claim it,
A place where love for our people will light it and sustain it.

So I curled up in my bed, though my mind wouldn’t stay,
Thinking, “Tomorrow, tomorrow’s the day.”
And I whispered, half-laughing, half-nervous, half-bright…
“Happy Election to all… and to all a long night.”

⏰ 30 hours until the polls close, and I’m out doing ALL of the things! Canvassing, texting, making phone calls…

Ope. Just kidding. 😂

I’m actually at Haus of Pain Tattoo Company in downtown Lafayette getting a celebratory tattoo!

🎉Not to celebrate a win, because that’s up to the voters now, but to celebrate the work I’ve put into this campaign and the person I’ve become along the way.

➡️Fourteen months ago, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I certainly didn’t know how much this experience would challenge me, push me outside my comfort zone, or change the way I see myself and the world around me.

▪️I’ve learned to be louder, braver, more confident, comfortable taking up space, and I have been forced to remember that what others think about me is none of my business.

➡️And I’ve learned that sometimes the biggest victory isn’t the outcome. It’s looking back at the person you were when you started and realizing just how far you’ve come.

Regardless of what happens tomorrow night, nobody can take away the thousands of doors knocked, the relationships built, the lessons learned, or the personal growth that has come from this journey.

🇺🇸So, while the voters decide how this chapter ends, I’m taking a little time today to celebrate everything it took to get here.

🎉Huge thank you to Haus of Pain in Lafayette for squeezing me in today! If you’re looking for a great place to get your own celebration tattoo, I highly recommend checking them out!

…ok! Break time is over. Back to canvassing. Ted Hardesty for Fairfield Township Trustee and I will hit about 200 doors today 💪

🇺🇸With about 36 hours until the polls close, let me share with you the number one lesson I’ve learned throughout this journey.

➡️ Corporate money in politics is one of the greatest threats to our democracy, and it is not a Republican or Democratic problem. It is a problem on both sides of the aisle.

➡️We spend so much time arguing over political parties that we often overlook who is funding the people making decisions on our behalf.

▪️ UTILITY COMPANIES are funding campaigns. We wonder why our utility bills continue to climb while Indiana families struggle to afford basic necessities. Meanwhile, companies like Duke Energy and NIPSCO have poured millions of dollars into Indiana political campaigns over the years.

Hoosiers ratepayers are not being prioritized because the companies collecting their money are also helping fund the political campaigns of the politicians willing to vote to protect the company instead of to protect the ratepayer.

💰Money in politics is bribery in politics. Indiana’s Secretary of Commerce, Chuck Goodrich, donated $25,000 to Governor Mike Braun’s campaign before Braun appointed him to the position.

➡️Goodrich also remains CEO of Gaylor Electric, a company that now benefits from state economic development incentives.

💰ALEC: The American Legislative Exchange Council is an out of state policy institute funding and endorsing our politicians. They write legislation then find politicians across the country to introduce it in their state. They then see hefty campaign contributions in return for passing this legislation.

➡️ALEC legislation has included policies involving public school privatization, labor regulations, taxation, and corporate interests.

🚨That means the legislation affecting our classrooms, workers, and communities is originating with national organizations and corporate representatives rather than the constituents who will actually live with the consequences….and our legislators are being paid to pass it here.

▪️ Our legislators accept money from Israeli and other foreign companies. We need greater transparency surrounding lobbying and political spending by companies with foreign ownership or international business interests. Our laws should be written to serve Hoosiers, regardless of where a corporation is headquartered.

🚨And here’s what I’ve learned…you cannot understand the decisions being made at the Statehouse without also looking at who is funding the campaigns of the people making those decisions.

➡️A campaign contribution does not automatically mean a politician has been bought. But when corporations with enormous financial interests have access and influence that ordinary Hoosiers cannot afford, we have a serious problem.

🚨I believe we need stronger campaign finance laws, greater transparency, meaningful conflict-of-interest protections, and limits on the influence of corporate money.

💰Throughout this campaign, I have made the decision not to accept corporate PAC contributions, utility company money, or insurance company money.

➡️After 14 months of campaigning, thousands of doors knocked, and countless conversations with Hoosiers, I’ve become more convinced than ever that this issue is at the center of so many challenges facing our state.

💰If we want a government that answers to the people, we need a political system where the people have a voice that money cannot drown out.

➡️Because our elected officials should be beholden to their constituents, not their campaign contributors.

Main Street over Wall Street. Every single time.

🇺🇸 Voting Take #2!

Our first attempt was thwarted by a ballot error, but we’re back!

🚨 If you live in Tippecanoe Township, Tippecanoe County and cast your ballot between October 8th and October 22nd, make sure you get back in to recast your vote!

🇺🇸 But we officially voted today!

I had butterflies in my stomach walking in, but getting to cast a vote for myself after 14 months of hard work, dedication, and countless hours poured into this campaign was a moment I will never forget.

❤️The smiles, thumbs ups, and conversations in the voting line were a sign of just how many people we have been able to reach.

➡️And what an honor it was to vote for not just names on a ballot, but people I have personally walked this path with over the course of the year like Nate for 38 and Drew Cox for Congress.

➡️This campaign has been a journey of personal growth, empowerment, and discovering just how much I am capable of. Regardless of the outcome, I know I have left a positive mark on the 2026 election in Indiana and on the community I have called home my entire life.

But this moment doesn’t belong to me alone.

❤️ It belongs to every single person who knocked on doors, volunteered their time, shared a social media post, donated their dollars, sent an encouraging text, put a sign in their yard, or believed in me and this campaign enough to trust me with their vote.

You have all been part of something that has changed my life, and I hope that in some small way, I’ve inspired others to believe that ordinary people can step up, find their voices, and make a difference in their communities.

🇺🇸 In approximately 80 hours, this chapter of my life will come to a close, and we’ll find out how the next chapter begins.

➡️For more than a year, I’ve shared my life, my family, my goals, my ideas, and my beliefs with you. I’ve put myself out there in ways I never imagined I would, and I’ve given this campaign everything I have.

Now, it’s your turn.

🇺🇸 Get out and vote, Indiana! Make your voice heard, because the future of our communities belongs to the people who call them home.

❤️ Happy 18th anniversary to the First Gentleman of the District 22 campaign (his words, not mine 😜)!

➡️It’s not that I don’t care about our wedding anniversary, but the day we started dating in 2008, when we were just juniors in high school, is the true day I like to celebrate.

❤️We’ve been an inseparable pair for more of our lives than we haven’t been.

➡️We’ve always worked as a team, but he has really had to step up his game as our world has expanded this past year.

🇺🇸He is the biggest supporter of this campaign and believes in me more than I believe in myself sometimes.

➡️We’ve been through a lot. Finishing high school together. Building a home. Having two kids. Losses. A brain cancer diagnosis. And now, somehow, a State Senate campaign.

❤️We’ve grown up together, built a life together, and somehow keep being handed or stumbling into or new adventures (some good, some bad) to take on together.

🇺🇸This campaign has demanded more of our family than I ever could have anticipated. There have been long nights, missed dinners, weekends spent knocking on doors, and more responsibilities falling on his shoulders than ever before. And somehow, he still manages to be the person cheering me on the loudest.

➡️I don’t think either of us imagined that 18 years after that top left photo was taken, we’d be raising two kids, juggling careers, and spending our anniversary in the final days of a political campaign. But that’s kind of how our life has always gone. We make plans, life throws us a curveball, and we figure it out together.

➡️I have no idea what the next 18 years will bring, but if they’re anything like the first 18, I know they’ll be full of love, laughter, challenges, and adventures we never saw coming.

❤️Happy 18 years to the person that has been putting up with my big, impulsive ideas since 2008.

📸I look back at this photo I took over a year ago, and so much has changed since then, and almost nothing has changed at the same time.

➡️This girl had absolutely no idea what she was getting herself into.

✔️She didn’t know she’d end up building one of the most powerful campaigns in this part of the state.

✔️She didn’t know she’d meet people that would forever end up being a part of her life’s story in the best way possible.

✔️She had no idea she wouldn’t just discover she was good at campaigning, but that she would find a genuine passion for it.

✔️She had no idea that she wouldn’t just talk about inspiring people to get involved in politics, but actually watch it happen.

✔️She didn’t know how many dollars she would raise, the thousands of doors she would knock on, the countless miles she would drive, or the number of strangers who would become friends along the way.

✔️She didn’t know how many late nights, early mornings, missed family moments, and uncomfortable conversations were ahead of her.

✔️She didn’t know how much courage it would take to put her name on a ballot, or how much courage it would take to keep showing up when things got difficult.

✔️And she certainly didn’t know just how much she was capable of.

✔️She didn’t know exactly what it would feel like to open the mailbox and see a smear mailer waiting there.

➡️I’m wiser now. I’m more confident. I’m also so much more tired. 😂

▪️I’ve seen firsthand how beaten down our two party political system has left so many people. I’ve talked to people who have completely lost faith in their government, people who feel forgotten, and people who genuinely believe their voices no longer matter.

▪️I’ve seen how corporate dollars influence the decisions made at our Statehouse, and I’ve become more convinced than ever that money in politics is one of the greatest threats to our democracy.

▪️I’ve also learned that there are far more good people in our communities than the comment sections would have you believe.

🚨But some things haven’t changed.

➡️I got into this campaign to show up for my neighbors and remind people that this community doesn’t belong to a political ideology. It belongs to the people who live here, raise their families here, and are willing to work for its future. And that’s still exactly what I’m doing.

➡️I got into this campaign because I believed women, teachers, and moms deserved a seat at the table. I still believe that.

➡️I got into this campaign because I was tired of watching decisions about our public schools being made without listening to the people who actually work in them. I still am.

➡️I got into this campaign because I wanted my children and the thousands of students I’ve taught to have opportunities to build good lives right here in Indiana. I still do.

➡️I got into this campaign because I believe our tax dollars should be invested in the communities that pay them, not handed out to corporations that already have more money than they know what to do with.

❤️And I got into this campaign because I believe ordinary people, without political connections, wealthy donors, or famous last names, should be able to run for office and have their voices heard.

🇺🇸A year later, I believe in all of those things even more fiercely than I did when this picture was taken.

➡️This campaign has changed me in ways I never expected, but it hasn’t changed why I started.

❤️Thank you for coming along on this journey with me. For every donation, every yard sign, every encouraging message, every conversation on a doorstep, and every person who reminded me that this was worth doing.

📚Thank you for caring about our public schools, our family farms, our privacy, our small businesses, our first responders, and the future of the communities we call home.

🌽I’m still the same mom, teacher, neighbor, and lifelong Hoosier who decided over a year ago that my anxiety about what was going on at the Statehouse wasn’t going to go away unless I did something about it.

➡️The only difference is that now I know just how much ordinary people can accomplish when they’re willing to show up.

And I’m not done showing up.

We’ve made it this far together, and now there’s one more thing left to do.

🗳️ Get out and vote on or before November 3rd!

STATEMENT ON THE DELPHI SCHOOL BOARD RACE

October 28, 2026

I unfortunately need to share my concerns about Kevin Gaskill, a candidate for Delphi School Board, for the second time.

There has been a recent uptick of incidents with this candidate. With the possibility of him serving on our school board, I believe it is important to reiterate the issue and share new concerns.

I welcome questions, disagreement, and accountability. I have answered his questions in Messenger, in comments, in person, and in public groups.

He has repeatedly posted about me across personal pages and community groups, generated AI information about me, sent messages to me and my campaign email, threatened to call the authorities on me more than once, and sought me out in public. He has tagged me repeatedly in posts. At times, he has made dozens of comments in a 24-hour period, many repeating the same question, comment, or accusation.

In the past week, he has also publicly shared my personal phone number across Facebook without my permission. This raises serious concerns for me about his judgment and his ability to respect the privacy of others. School board members are entrusted with sensitive and confidential information about students, parents, families, and school employees. If someone is willing to publicly share my personal contact information, I have serious reservations about trusting that person to handle the private information of the families our schools serve.

These contacts are made from his personal account, campaign account, and anonymous profiles across a variety of community groups, that he owns and ones owned by others.

His patterns go beyond asking a candidate where they stand. I consider it harassment. No candidate or anyone else owes a response to dozens of repeated comments and messages or deserves to be doxxed online.

When his conduct is challenged, he calls the other person a bully and ends the conversation with insults and threats.

I want to make something very clear, I am not sharing these concerns simply because I disagree with someone or because I dislike being criticized. Kevin Gaskill is not just a private citizen expressing his opinions. He is a candidate asking our community to trust him with a position of public responsibility. Voters deserve to know how someone seeking to represent our children, families, and schools conducts himself before deciding whether to entrust him with that responsibility.

This has nothing to do with party politics. There are other candidates from both sides of the aisle running for Delphi School Board, and I encourage you to look at both of them.

I will keep answering good-faith questions and focusing on the people of District 22.

❤️ The little girl in me never saw this happening.

Thank you, Representative Sheila Klinker, for your endorsement!

➡️ Our paths have been eerily similar. We both started our journeys as young women who devoted our careers to teaching the children of our district. Then, we realized we could no longer stand by and watch harmful legislation impact the communities we loved, so we decided to take that same dedication to the Statehouse.

But instead of the platform shoes… I have a headband. 😂

➡️Though I have no intentions of making politics my long-term career, I hope to make even a fraction of the impact that Representative Klinker has made throughout hers.

🍎She has spent decades showing up for our community, advocating for public education, and proving that a teacher’s voice belongs at the table where decisions are made.

📚I didn’t grow up dreaming of becoming a politician. I grew up wanting to make a difference. For a long time, I thought the best way to do that was in a classroom. Now, I realize that sometimes making a difference means stepping outside of the classroom to fight for the very children, families, and communities you’ve spent your life serving.

🇺🇸If I’m fortunate enough to earn the trust of District 22, I hope to carry forward that same spirit of public service, compassion, and commitment to the people who call this place home.

❤️Thank you, Sheila, for paving the way for women like me and for reminding us that ordinary people who care deeply about their communities can do extraordinary things.

🇺🇸Make sure to get out and vote on or before November 3rd!
