Meetings are held on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. The oldest service organization in Lake Benton is the local volunteer fire department.

Lake Benton Fire Department was organized January 10, 1893. Today, the department is comprised of citizens of Lake Benton who volunteer their services to provide top-notch fire protection to the city and the surrounding service area. Each volunteer fireman spends at least one evening a month attending meetings and training sessions. In addition to this training, they also attend two fire schools and five regional fire meetings. Department members have also received hazardous materials training. Pat McCarthy is the present fire chief of the Lake Benton Fire Department.

Today's forecast looks very similar to yesterday. We urge our farmers to take extra precautions as every department in lincoln county was called out for various fires this Saturday. Keeping a tillage implement close by, blowing off the combine, and taking bathroom breaks to check your bearings frequently can reduce the chance of a fire. Praying everyone has a safe and prosperous harvest.
