Grace and Courtesy is at the heart of the Montessori philosophy. ❤️
It is about so much more than saying “please” and “thank you.” It teaches children how to treat others with kindness and respect, manage their emotions, communicate thoughtfully, solve conflicts, care for their environment, work cooperatively, and become considerate, contributing members of their community.
And just like so many of our Grace and Courtesy lessons, serving others is something that must be taught through presentation, modeling, and practice.
This past week, our Primary students were busy preparing for their Grand Day of Serving! 🧡
Held once during our three-year cycle, this special event is designed to cultivate a heart for service and gratitude by giving our children the opportunity to serve those who serve them, love them, and care for them so well: their grandparents!
Our Primary students practiced practical life skills as they washed, measured, mixed, and baked delicious blueberry muffins. 🫐🧁 They also put their Grace and Courtesy lessons into action by learning how to warmly greet their guests, carry a tray with two hands, use their best manners, engage in conversation, and work together as a team.
And, of course, there were plenty of smiles, hugs, sweet moments, and all the Primary cuteness! It was the perfect way to welcome autumn with a little extra warmth and coziness. 🍂🍁🍂
A heartfelt thank you to all of our grandparents who took the time to visit us! We hope you enjoyed the Primary hospitality, the conversations, the smiles, the warm hugs, and, of course, those homemade blueberry muffins.
What a beautiful opportunity for our children to experience the joy of serving others with love and grace.
