Join Penn State Extension for a hands-on opportunity to contribute to the health of our local waterways at an upcoming Volunteer Riparian Buffer Planting event on Saturday, November 14th at Overlook Park!

We are looking for a few more volunteers to plant tree seedlings as part of a riparian buffer, a vital environmental strategy that helps protect and improve water quality.

Riparian buffers are one of the most cost-effective and impactful ways to reduce erosion, filter pollutants, and preserve our natural water systems.

Top 5 Tips for a Safe Halloween

1. Be Bright and Be Seen!

Wear reflective clothing, carry a flashlight or add glow sticks to costumes so drivers can see you.

2. Stay Together!

Young children should always be accompanied by an adult. Older kids should travel in groups and stick to a planned route.

3. Watch Where You Walk!

Use sidewalks whenever possible, cross at corners and never dart between parked cars. Watch for uneven sidewalks and obstacles.

4. Inspect Candy Before Enjoying!

Have an adult check all treats before eating. Avoid anything unwrapped, damaged or suspicious.

5. Make Sure Costumes Are Safe!

Choose costumes that fit properly, avoid tripping hazards and allow clear visibility. Face paint is often a safer alternative to masks.

Wishing everyone a safe and candy-packed Halloween tomorrow night!

Please be advised that the bridge spanning the Conestoga River on Eden Road will be closed to through traffic on November 4 to allow Lancaster County crews to remove lodged debris from the bridge piers. A crane will be utilized to complete this work.

Motorists will be asked to follow the designated detours and plan accordingly while the closure is in effect. This work will begin at 6:30 am and will continue until the project is complete. It is expected to be completed within one day, weather permitting. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
