November is Family Literacy Month! 📚✨

You are your child's first and most important teacher, and some of the best learning happens at home: at the kitchen table, in the car, or curled up with a book at bedtime.

All month long, we're sharing simple, free activities your family can do together to build reading skills. No special supplies, just a little time and a lot of fun.

💡 Tip Tuesday: Build math skills in real time by using every day activities as learning opportunities!

Gift wrapping, holiday baking, and grocery shopping are perfect opportunities to show children how math is part of everyday life. Measure ingredients together, compare prices at the store, estimate how much wrapping paper you’ll need, or practice simple counting.

🌳 What an incredible day of discovery!

Over 1,000 CCSD parents and students joined us for Super Saturday: Discovery in the Park! for hands-on learning, family fun, and opportunities to spark curiosity together. Here are just a few of the things families shared that they plan to do to keep the learning going at home!

📚 “Read all the books we were given today.”

🌱 “We will be planting seeds and looking into Magnet schools!”

🔬 “Try more STEAM experiences at home.”

🚌 “Practice safety walking to and from the school bus.”

💬 “Finally have the smoking or non-smoking talk with my kids.”

A huge THANK YOU to our community partners who helped make this event possible! 💙 Special thanks to Silver State Schools Credit Union for providing free Kona Ice to the first 400 guests, Molina Healthcare of Nevada for providing free laundry detergent to 150 guests, and the Southern Nevada Health District for providing materials that supported the event.

We’re grateful for all the community partners who show up for CCSD families and help make meaningful learning experiences like this possible. We couldn't do it without you!
