This year, we’re encouraging our Horizon students and families to take a small but meaningful step: say hello! 👋
You might recognize a familiar face from a virtual class, see a family you’ve met at another event, or simply find yourself sitting next to someone new. A smile, a compliment, a helping hand, or a simple question can be the beginning of a great friendship. 🥰
💬 Need Help Starting the Conversation?
Try one of these easy conversation starters:
🌳 Talk about what’s around you:
“What has been your favorite part of the event so far?”
😊 Give a compliment:
“I love your shirt! Where did you get it?”
💡 Ask for a recommendation:
“What’s your family’s favorite park around here?”
🎨 Comment on a shared activity:
“That project looks really fun! How did you make that?”
✨ Ask an open-ended question:
“How did your family hear about this event?”
Remember, you don’t have to make a new best friend in one conversation. Start small. Say hello. Ask a question. Share a laugh. The next time you see that family, it will feel a little easier to connect.
