Good evening families,

Thank you for your partnership and support today. We are very grateful for our local law enforcement officers and the agencies from surrounding counties who responded swiftly and ensured our campuses remained safe.

Tomorrow morning, we will take additional safety precautions across our schools. You will see more law enforcement officers on our campuses throughout the day.

These security measures will slow down our car rider lines. Please give yourself extra time for morning drop-off, exercise patience, and follow the directions of staff directing traffic.

Student and staff safety remains our priority. Thank you for working with us tomorrow.

Out of an abundance of caution while administration and local law enforcement investigate a potential threat in our area, Lincoln County Middle School and Lincoln County High School have been placed on a hard lockdown, and LCES is currently operating under a precautionary soft lockdown.

Outside movement and campus visitors are temporarily restricted to maintain a completely secure environment.

We kindly ask that parents refrain from coming to the school campus or calling the main office at this time so our phone lines and driveways remain clear for emergency personnel and administrative personnel.

We will continue to keep you updated through district messaging as soon as additional information is cleared to share. Thank you for your patience, partnership, and prayers as we keep our children and staff safe.

Free Cartwheel Webinar- Friend drama, group chats, and your child

Friendships can be one of the best parts of childhood — and one of the most painful. If you’ve watched your child navigate friend drama, social exclusion, or the pressures of group chats, you know how hard it can be to know when to step in and what to say.

Join Cartwheel, our virtual mental health partner, and licensed counselor, author, and Washington Post contributor Phyllis Fagell, LCPC, for a free live webinar:

Friend Drama, Group Chats, and Social Exclusion: What Parents Need to Know
Thursday, October 15, 7–8pm ET

You'll leave with a clearer picture of what children and teens need from the adults in their lives to navigate friendship challenges, build resilience, and maintain healthy relationships.

Nurse Leigh Williford Named to State School Nurse Advisory Council.

We are incredibly proud to announce the selection of Nurse Leigh Williford, RN to the Georgia Department of Education School Nurse Advisory Council. This competitive selection process identifies top practicing school nurses from across the state to provide an essential, 'boots-on-the-ground' perspective directly to GaDOE leadership. Nurse Williford’s appointment means our local community now has a direct hand in shaping critical health services, advising on learner barriers, and guiding student wellness policies for all Georgia schools. Selection to this council is a prestigious honor that directly benefits the health of our students. We are thrilled that Nurse Williford has been chosen for this vital work.

IMPORTANT GRADUATION UPDATE

After several hours of closely monitoring the approaching inclement weather conditions, the decision has been made to hold the Lincoln County High School Class of 2026 Graduation Ceremony inside the LCMHS Gymnasium tonight.

Forecasted thunderstorms and the potential for lightning created safety concerns for our graduates, families, staff, and guests. The safety of everyone in attendance has remained our top priority throughout this decision-making process.

Graduation will still begin at 8:00 PM as scheduled. Graduating seniors should report to the auditorium at 6:45 PM.

There will be no ticket restrictions for attendance. We appreciate everyone’s understanding, flexibility, and support as we work to provide a safe and memorable celebration for the Class of 2026.

Congratulations to our graduates, and we look forward to celebrating this special occasion together tonight.
