Earlier this month, I had the honor to join this meaningful 5K walk in recognition of Autism Awareness Month 💙 Thank you for the invitation and for bringing our community together in such a powerful way. Events like this remind us of the importance of awareness, inclusion, and showing up for one another.

Together, we walk with purpose, we uplift every voice, and we continue building a community where everyone is seen, supported, and celebrated.

Happy 100 years, Gauchos! 🎉 This past weekend, we celebrated a century of excellence at Narbonne High School and as a proud alumna, this moment hit home. I walked these halls as a cheerleader, a thespian, and a student body president, experiences that helped shape the woman I am today.

For 100 years, Narbonne has done more than educate, it has uplifted generations and continues to impact countless families. Here’s to honoring the legacy and building the next 100 years of excellence.
Gooooo Gauchos! 💚

Whether it’s college, career, or military service, Los Angeles Unified wants every student’s post-graduation step to be celebrated. 🥳

Yesterday, the Board of Education unanimously approved the resolution,“LA Unified Commitment Day: Celebrating Postsecondary Pathways for All Students,” authored by Board Member Tanya Ortiz Franklin and co-sponsored by all Board Members.

Inspired in part by former First Lady Michelle Obama’s National College Signing Day and Commitment Day, Board District 7 launched this effort in 2021, during the pandemic, as a virtual event to celebrate students’ college commitments. It quickly grew into a powerful in-person celebration, bringing together more than 2,000 Board District 7 students and families at California State University Dominguez Hills, where seniors walked across the stage and proudly announced what comes next and students of all ages and their families engaged in a resource fair of over 50 university and community partners. Then in 2025, the event expanded districtwide at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, continuing a strong college-going and career-ready culture.

Now, that same energy is going districtwide across all of our schools!

Today, we celebrate the incredible life and legacy of Dolores Huerta—a fearless champion for students, women, workers, and all those fighting for justice and equity.

Her decades of tireless advocacy have empowered generations to raise their voices and demand change. At LA Unified, we honor her living legacy by continuing to uplift and inspire our students to lead with courage, compassion, and a commitment to justice.

Spent the morning at Banning HS and San Pedro HS and it was truly inspiring ✨

We saw our Banning Fire Academy scholars in action, preparing for an upcoming competition, and our San Pedro AP and newcomer students preparing for trajectory-changing exams. This Spring Academy, our students are making every moment count, continuing to learn, grow, and reach their academic goals.
