Sheriff's Youth Foundation

This past Sunday we wrapped up the Positive Actions with Service (P.A.W.S.) Pilot Program at the Carson Animal Care Center alongside participants from Compton YAL, Lakewood YAL, and South LA YAL in collaboration with Blue Line Dogs 🐾

The youth worked closely with their assigned dogs throughout the program and ended the day with presentations about their experiences. Overall, the participants truly enjoyed the program, and many of the dogs were adopted ❤️

Proud moment in Washington, D.C. as Isaac Macias from the Compton YAL and Explorer Program received the 2026 National PAL Male Youth of the Year award. And a huge shout out congratulations to Eleonor (FIFI) Arias from the for receiving the National PAL Female Youth of The Year.

Huge thank you to Deputy McIntosh and Sgt. Rojas from the Compton Sheriff’s Station for mentoring and guiding such an incredible young man. Getting to know Isaac’s family, you truly see where his respect, humility, and heart come from. Deeply rooted through family, mentorship, our YAL programs, and National PAL and now continuing to rise. 🤩

Today in the P.A.W.S. Program we dove into the fundamentals of dogs 🐾 — how they see the world (yes, colors too 👀), how their brains react to movement, and just how powerful their sense of smell really is.

Training isn’t just teaching commands… it’s understanding how dogs think and perceive so we can meet them at their level and help them succeed. 🐕✨
