🏆 Recognizing Excellence in Public Safety Communications! 🏆

The Louisa County Sheriff's Office is proud to recognize four members of our Communications Division who were recently honored by the Virginia Chapter of the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (VA APCO) with Certificates of Distinction!

Established in 2023, the Certificate of Distinction program recognizes dispatchers across Virginia who demonstrate a commitment to professional development through specialized training in five categories: Law Enforcement, Fire Service, Training, Leadership, and 9-1-1.

This year's recipients from LCSO include:

👏 Leah B. – Law Enforcement
👏 Tonya M. – Law Enforcement and Fire Service
👏 Taby H. – Law Enforcement and Fire Service
👏 Taylor N. – Law Enforcement and Fire Service

These four team members are among just 25 individuals recognized statewide since the program's inception!

Earning this distinction requires completing specific training courses in each recognized category, demonstrating a commitment to continued learning and excellence in serving our community.

Please join us in congratulating Leah, Tonya, Taby, and Taylor on this well-deserved recognition! We appreciate their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to continually strengthening the important work of our Communications Division.

The voice behind the badge is just as important as the badge itself!

🐾 A Little Comfort Goes a Long Way! 💙

The past month has been a particularly rough one for our Louisa County Sheriff’s Office Communications Officers, and sometimes, a little extra comfort can make all the difference.

The LCSO would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to Amanda Davis, President of Bella’s Buddies, for bringing three very special visitors to spend some time with our team! 🐶💛

Maple, Lily, and Rosie brought plenty of cuddles, comfort, and smiles to Communications Officers Emily and Madison and Communications Director Holly. These sweet companions offered a much-needed chance to pause, recharge, and enjoy a little unconditional love during a challenging time.

Our Communications Officers are often the calm voice on the other end of the line during someone else’s worst day. They carry the weight of difficult calls, coordinate emergency responses behind the scenes, and support our deputies and community members around the clock. Their work can be emotionally demanding, and we are grateful for opportunities that remind them they are supported, too.

Bella’s Buddies connects people and communities with specially trained dogs to promote physical and emotional well-being. We are thankful to Amanda and her organization for sharing that mission with our team and reminding us just how powerful the human-animal bond can be.

Please join us in thanking Amanda, Maple, Lily, and Rosie for bringing some extra sunshine, wagging tails, and much-needed puppy love to our Communications Center! 🐾❤️

Sometimes, the heroes who answer the call need a little comfort of their own.
