🗳️ FACT CHECK: Election Judge Initials on Ballots

Under Illinois law, election judges must initial ballots before issuing them to voters. These initials help verify that a ballot was officially issued, and ballots missing required initials may be rejected.

🔴 Red ink is commonly used because it is designed not to interfere with ballot tabulation equipment.

Election judge initials do NOT disqualify your ballot. They are an important safeguard in the election process.

Before sharing alarming claims, verify election information with your local election authority or visit elections.il.gov.

Today is a great day to make sure you’re registered and ready to vote in the November 3, 2026 General Election.

Check your voter registration, update your information or register to vote at ova.elections.il.gov/RegistrationLookup.aspx.

🚨🚨🚨 Most of you will be receiving your letter regarding voting by mail soon. If you already vote by mail, or if you have previously "opted out", then you will not receive the letter.

We are required by Illinois law to send this letter every two years. This is a very costly task that we are forced to do.

If you do not want to vote my mail, mark the "opt out" box. If you would like to vote by mail, mark the box that you prefer. You can mail, fax or email the application to us.

If you do nothing, you will receive this letter again in two years.
