On a bus this afternoon, a student reported to high school administration that another student
pointed to his bookbag while telling a third student not to come to school tomorrow. The student
reported this situation as a possible threat to the school community. The high school
administration immediately notified our school SRO.
The school SRO along with the Village of Massena Police Department have investigated and
concluded that this was not a threat.
As at least one student bystander witnessed this exchange, it is expected that some may have
fear about reporting to school tomorrow. Although it has been deemed not to be a threat, there
will be additional police presence at our schools to ensure the safety of all.
The student who reported the situation to administration is to be commended. This student
heard something and said something. This student’s courageous action allowed the school
administration, the SRO and law enforcement to do their job to investigate.
