Election Day is tomorrow! 🗳️

Before casting your ballot, take a few minutes to consider how local decisions impact housing right here in Matthews, Mint Hill, and Stallings.

Local leaders help shape what can be built, how funding is allocated, and how we preserve homes for families who have lived in our community for generations.

How many fingers are you putting down? 👀

There are a lot of misconceptions about Habitat for Humanity, so let's clear up a few!

🏠 Habitat doesn't give away homes. Our homebuyers purchase their homes with affordable mortgages, complete homebuyer education, and contribute sweat equity hours.

🔨 We do more than build new homes. Our Home Preservation and Aging in Place programs help existing homeowners make critical repairs and accessibility improvements so they can remain safely in their homes.

💙 Affordable housing isn't just for people experiencing financial hardship. Housing affordability is about the relationship between housing costs and household income. What's affordable for one family may not be affordable for another.

👷 Volunteers don't build Habitat homes alone. Our volunteers are essential, but our construction team, skilled tradespeople, and contractors also play important roles in building safe, quality homes.

Housing is generally considered affordable when it costs no more than 30% of a household's income. That means what's affordable for one family may be out of reach for another.

Three hours. That's all it took for the incredible volunteers from CrossRoads Missions and Pineville Church to build the walls for a future Greater Matthews Habitat townhome! 🏠🔨

This past Saturday, these hardworking volunteers turned a stack of lumber into the beginnings of a future home.

A huge thank you to CrossRoads Missions and Pineville Church for giving your time, energy, and talents to help make affordable homeownership possible in our community. We can't wait to see these walls become a home! 💙💚
