Congratulations to PTHS Sophomore Katie Froelich who took home the title of WPIAL Class 3A Cross Country Champion today! With a record time of 16:38.0, Katie not only owns an individual WPIAL record but also has the 11th fastest time in the country this year among females. Our girls team finished 3rd overall and is headed to the PIAA championship! Wow! What a great day for PT Cross Country!

Our 8th grade social studies students had a blast from the past this week with chance to check out a 112 year old Ford Model T - complete with the crank start, wooden wheels, and air horn (that cost about $450 new!) Thanks to our guests from the 3 River Ford Model A Club, our students learned about the Ford Model T and the later Model A as they studied these innovations in our nation's history. (Check out the photo they had from Donaldson's Crossroads! Quite a change to today's version!)

Our Bower Hill STEM Bees had a blast making pumpkin catapults, thaumatropes, apple towers, and hexbug mazes. (If you are like me and had to google "thaumatropes" those are the spinner toys that make two images into one when spun! 🤓 I may not be sure how to say it, but I know fun when I see it!)

Our Student Council Booed the teachers again this year and brightened everyone’s day at PTMS!

Our Halloween celebrations took place today in PT and were the kickoff to the long weekend for our students (and parent/teacher conferences for Mom and Dad!). The creativity of our staff and students is always a treat🍬! Whether it’s a staff costume contest at the high school to benefit a local charity or the elementary parade full of excited kids ready for trick-or-treat, it’s always lots of fun in PT Schools!

Each year our PTHS Freshman and Sophomore Class sponsor the Halloween Costume Madness contest. Staff members show their creativity and our students vote for their favorites with donations that benefit the Children's Institute of Pittsburgh. For the second year in a row, Mrs. Pinto took home bragging rights, and overall PTHS raised over $1,108.95 for the charity. Congrats to all of our crafty staff and thank you to our generous community! Check out our winner and a few of the contenders!

Due to an accident on East McMurray Road at Inverness Dr., traffic has slowed down busses for our elementary bus runs. Delays are unpredictable! Thanks for your patience!

Students on Team Andromeda at McMurray had some special visitors today! Members of the Peters Township Fire Department stopped by, along with a special guest—Mrs. Tovornik’s husband, who serves as a volunteer firefighter in Dormont! Students learned about the challenges firefighters face every day and how they use math, science, technology, and problem-solving skills to keep our communities safe!

Bower Hill Best Buddies kicked off the year with two days of welcome activities! This year, second and third graders were invited to join Best Buddies, and almost 90 students registered! We kicked off the year by signing our Best Buddies banner and talking about all of the great qualities of our Best Buddies members. Students wrote a quality on certificates and they will be proudly displayed for everyone at Bower Hill to see!
