Mutual Aid Response: MVA with Entrapment 🚒🚑🚁

On Sunday, Medic 16-17 and Engine 16-2 were dispatched to provide mutual aid to Hayfield Fire Department for a motor vehicle accident involving entrapment.

Upon arrival, Ambulance 16-17's medic teamed up with the Meadville Area Ambulance BLS crew to provide advanced assessment, stabilization, and treatment for the patient. Due to the severity of the injuries, the decision was made to to fly the patient directly to a trauma center.

Engine 16-2's crew worked alongside Hayfield crew to secure the scene and set up a safe, secure landing zone for the medical helicopter.

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the incident.

This morning at 4:54 a.m., "A" shift was dispatched to assist Summit Twp Fire & Rescue Dept 20 for a reported working structure fire.

Engine 16-2 responded, and upon arrival, the crew was tasked with securing the utilities. Crews also assisted with fire attack and overhaul operations.

Our thoughts are with the residents affected by this loss.

🚒 🔥October is Fire Prevention Month! 🚒🔥

Throughout the month, you may see our firefighters out and about across the community, visiting schools and preschools to teach kids about fire safety and prevention.

We love getting the opportunity to educate the next generation and help keep our community safe!

This morning at approximately 9:25 AM, “C” Shift was dispatched to Pine Street for a reported vehicle fire.

Engine 16-2 and Medic 16-17 responded and arrived on scene to find a working vehicle fire.

Crews quickly deployed a handline and brought the fire under control.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

Congratulations to Our Newly Named Interim Leaders!

We would like to congratulate Captain Chris Thoreson, who has been named Interim Fire Chief, and Firefighter/Paramedic Niki Crippen-Mowris, who has been named Interim EMS Coordinator by Meadville City Hall.

We look forward to their leadership and continued dedication to the Meadville Fire Department and our community.

We would like to wish Chief Evan Kardosh the best as he moves on to serve as the Borough Manager of Greenville, PA! Today is his last day as Chief 16.

Throughout his career with the Meadville Fire Department, Chief Kardosh has served in numerous roles, including Firefighter/Paramedic, Union President, EMS Coordinator, Deputy Chief, and ultimately Fire Chief.

He played a vital role in establishing our fire-based EMS service and helped move the department forward through his leadership and dedication.

We sincerely thank Chief Kardosh for his service, commitment, and contributions to the City of Meadville and the Meadville Fire Department!

We wish him the very best of luck and continued success in this next chapter!
