🩷 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

Did you know breast cancer can affect men, too? Although it’s much less common, men also have breast tissue and should pay attention to changes.

Screening matters! Mammograms can find breast cancer before symptoms appear, when it may be easier to treat. Talk with your healthcare provider about when to start screening and how often, based on your age, family history, and personal risk.

This month, let’s wear pink, share awareness, support those affected, and remember loved ones. A reminder to schedule a screening could make a difference.

Keeping your septic system maintained is an important part of caring for your home, but the cost of necessary septic services can sometimes be difficult to manage.
The Thriving Communities Grant and IVCanDO may be able to help qualifying low-income households in the Illinois Valley with septic system repair and maintenance services.
Eligible projects may include:
Septic tank pumping
Septic system inspections
Small repairs that do not require ground disturbance
If your septic system needs attention, we encourage you to reach out and learn more about whether assistance may be available for your household.
Contact IVCanDO at 541-592-4440 today to learn more and start the application process. We are here to help you understand the program and take the next steps

(Online) Support and Discussion Group for Autistic Adults, ages 18+
Thursday Oct 22, 2026 ⋅ 5:30pm – 7pm (Pacific Time - Los Angeles)
Meets online every Thursday, from 5:30pm - 7:00pm. We would like to hold space for Autistic adults in Oregon who want to meet and talk with other adults about life on the spectrum. We will be reviewing books, talking about neurodiversity, and openly talking about life on the spectrum in general.
The group is facilitated by Lisa Sawyer, an Autistic adult and a peer. She is an active volunteer in her community, worked many years in homeless services, and peer support for adults. We strive to foster connection, have open dialogue in all areas that challenge and support us, making this a shared journey-never a solo one, in a safe and welcoming community.
