đźš’ Calling 911? Tell them where help is needed.

When an emergency needs immediate police, fire or ambulance assistance, call 911. Be ready to give the location—including the street address—your callback number, and what happened.

Answer the call-taker’s questions, follow their instructions, and stay on the line until they tell you to hang up.

Before heading out tonight, help your family know how to describe where they are.

In an emergency, dial 911 or your local emergency number immediately.

🔌 Where does your phone charge at night?

Keep phones, tablets and other rechargeable devices on a hard, flat surface, away from bedding and anything that can burn. Never charge them under a pillow or on a couch.

Use the original charger or a certified replacement, follow the manufacturer’s instructions, and avoid leaving devices charging unattended.

Check your family’s charging spots today.

Safety guidance: https://www.usfa.fema.gov/blog/lithium-ion-batteries/
https://www.mass.gov/info-details/lithium-ion-battery-safety

Lithium-ion batteries power everything from smartphones and laptops to scooters and electric vehicles. They pack a lot of power into a small device. That power can cause a fire or explosion if batteries are misused or are defective.

đźš’ Can emergency responders find your home easily?

Check that your house number is clearly visible from the road and stands out against its background. For a rural home with a long driveway, mark the address at the driveway entrance, too.

A clearly marked address helps responders find the right home.

Make sure first responders can see your house number from the road.

Medicine isn’t candy, even when it looks like it.

Keep medicines, vitamins and gummy supplements up and away, out of children’s sight and reach. Close safety caps after every use, and remind visitors to store medicine-containing bags safely.

If a child may have swallowed medicine, call Poison Help at 1-800-222-1222 right away. Don’t wait for symptoms.

If someone collapses, has a seizure, struggles to breathe or cannot be awakened, call 911 immediately.

🧺 Laundry day? Give your dryer a quick safety check.

• Remove lint from the filter before and after each load. Never run the dryer without its filter.
• Check behind the dryer for lint buildup and crushed or damaged venting.
• Make sure the outside vent flap opens while the dryer runs.
• Have installation and repairs handled by a professional.

Small checks can help prevent a dangerous fire.

October 25 local reminder: Limestone County’s October 13 outdoor-burning ban remains in effect in unincorporated areas. Check current county restrictions before considering any outdoor burn.
