As our district evolves and grows, so do our approaches to engaging our learners. Contact us today to learn more about being a part of our community.

At Weld RE-5J School District, we nurture every child's potential by collaborating with community and stakeholders, providing safe and challenging learning environments, and fostering academic, social, and emotional growth. We serve the communities of Johnstown and Milliken with three K-5 elementary schools (Letford, Milliken, Pioneer Ridge), Milliken Middle School (6-8), Roosevelt High School (9-12), Knowledge Quest Academy (K-8), and Civica Colorado (6-12). We are investing in innovative facilities, resources, and programs such as project-based learning and Career and Technical Education pathways that provide meaningful hands-on learning experiences for all.

5J Voice Matters

📣 On Election Day, voices across our community are being heard, and today our Elementary Student Superintendent Advisory Committees shared theirs as well. These conversations give students the opportunity to share ideas, celebrate successes, and provide feedback that helps shape their school experience.

A special part of these meetings is having our Board of Education Student Directors, Sadie and Liam, help lead the conversation. For our younger students, it's meaningful to see high school leaders who are interested in their ideas, value their perspectives, and help ensure their voices are heard.

Thank you to these young leaders for representing their peers and demonstrating the power of thoughtful student voice!

An Ofrenda is more than a display. It is a celebration of life, memory, and the connections that endure across generations. Our students have had the opportunity to learn about this meaningful tradition while honoring loved ones and reflecting on the importance of family, community, and remembrance.

Bring what you can, take what you need.

Supporting students goes beyond the classroom. In Episode 6 of State of 5J, Superintendent Scott Nielsen explores the work of the Cottage Collective with Ali Ham and Anthony Sandoval who help connect families to clothing, supplies, and other essential resources. Hear how this growing program is strengthening our community and helping ensure students belong, grow, and inspire.

The Cottage Collective is a free resource for students of the Weld RE-5J School District, and Johnstown and Milliken community members. We have a clothing closet, supply station and food pantry.

🚌 Thanks from 5J - Every bus has a driver. Every driver has a story. Every route serves a community.

We appreciate the incredible members of our Transportation Team who safely connect students to learning every day. Thank you to our bus drivers for the care, dedication, and relationships you build with students and families each day.

We're also grateful to our community for embracing our transportation team as family and taking pride in the yellow buses that represent 5J wherever they travel.

Learn the story behind the familiar Roughrider graphics and why so many people say, "That's our bus!"
