🇺🇸❤️🤍💙 LET FREEDOM RING… AND LET THE VOTES BE COUNTED! 💙🤍❤️🇺🇸

We aren't quite sure if all the votes were counted correctly, but according to OUR official Upper Elementary count, Zach Lahn received 56 votes to 46! 🇺🇸🗳️

Our 3rd–5th grade students had an exciting opportunity to learn all about the voting process, become familiar with the candidates, and experience firsthand what it means to participate in our democracy!

After learning about the candidates and the importance of every vote, our teachers transformed the elementary commons area into an official voting experience, complete with a voting booth! Each student took a turn stepping up, casting their ballot, and making their voice heard!

The excitement was contagious as students proudly exercised their opportunity to VOTE! What a wonderful way to bring learning to life while teaching the importance of citizenship, civic responsibility, and the power of having a voice!

TODAY'S LESSON: EVERY VOICE MATTERS. EVERY VOTE COUNTS. THAT'S DEMOCRACY! 🇺🇸

❤️🤍💙 We are proud of our future citizens! 💙🤍❤️

🍂 Fall Fun for Everyone! 🍁

Students and teachers alike had a GREAT time last Friday celebrating Fall and enjoying all the fun festivities that come along with it!

One of the BEST things about our school is that our staff doesn't just watch the fun happen — they jump right in and enjoy it right alongside our students! Those shared smiles, laughs, and memories are what make our school community so special! ❤️

And believe us, our students LOVE seeing their teachers join in on the fun just as much as we love watching them enjoy it!

It's always a GREAT day when we can learn, laugh, and make memories together! 🍂🧡

📚🎭 Readers’ Theater in Action! 🎭📚

Mrs. Roorda’s second-grade class performed “Room for More” for Mrs. Dye’s second-grade class as a fun, creative way to strengthen their reading skills! What a great opportunity for students to share their learning while building confidence and enjoying the reading process! ❤️

Why is Readers’ Theater so valuable? 📖✨

Readers’ Theater helps students grow as readers by:
📚 Practicing reading fluency through repeated readings.
🗣️ Building expression and confidence when reading aloud.
💡 Strengthening comprehension by understanding characters, dialogue, emotions, and events.
🎯 Making reading purposeful, engaging, and fun!

We love seeing our students put their reading skills into action while learning from and sharing with one another! Way to go, second graders! 👏

***Due to several illnesses in the classroom, Mrs. Dye’s second-grade class will perform their Readers’ Theater at a later date. We look forward to their performance! ❤️📚
- Encourages participation by giving every student a role and a reason to engage with the text.
- Connects reading to content learning. Historical, scientific, and literary scripts can strengthen background knowledge while developing literacy skills.

📣 **More Great Teachers Doing Great Things!!** 🎭

Mrs. Pope and Mr. Burgess brought history to life by inviting two *Newsies* characters into their 4th-grade classrooms! Through this engaging experience, students were able to visualize and better understand the Progressive Era while learning an important lesson: **YOUR VOICE MATTERS!** 🗣️✨

What a creative way to connect history to real-life experiences and help students see the power of standing up for what you believe in! Way to make learning meaningful and memorable! 👏📚

Dinner and a show! Sunday night was full of delicious food and theatrical fun! Our students enjoyed a pizza feast from Fong’s before heading to the Des Moines Civic Center to see Spamalot.

The evening was extra special for students who performed in our own production of Spamalot—they had the exciting opportunity to meet the actors who played the very same roles! What a fun way to celebrate their love of theatre and connect with fellow performers.

Great food, great theatre, and unforgettable memories!
