🚨 For roof repair, a roofers license from the Alabama Home Builders Licensure Board is required when the roofing job exceeds $2,500. Under the governor's state of emergency, unlicensed home building during storm recovery can now be charged as the felony of aggravated home repair fraud. With visits to Escambia and Conecuh counties planned for this week, licensure board investigators will be on the ground helping homeowners.

"A roofers license is required for replacing a storm-damaged roof when the cost of the job exceeds $2,500. Performing or offering unlicensed services is normally a class A misdemeanor, but becomes a felony when someone takes advantage of homeowners after an emergency weather event."

The Alabama Home Builders Licensure Board is warning homeowners about the potential for scams, fraud and price gouging during storm cleanup, repair and rebuilding as Hurricane Isaias threatens the Gulf Coast and central Alabama.
