In recognition of National Sudden Cardiac Awareness (SCA) Month, we’re taking a moment to highlight what SCA incidents are, and how your quick action in such an event can increase survival chances.

SCA is a life-threatening medical emergency which causes the heart to suddenly and ineffectively pump blood due to a malfunctioning electrical system. It can happen to anyone, at any time and is a serious complication.

If you suspect someone is experiencing SCA, performing hands-only CPR can save their life. If you do not know CPR, AMR Ventura County and Gold Coast Ambulance offer hands-only CPR demonstrations free of charge. Our team has successfully trained over 51,000 community members hands-only CPR, and we encourage you to take two minutes out of your day to learn.

It's breast cancer awareness month, and the team at AMR Ventura County and Gold Coast Ambulance takes a moment to honor those who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and celebrate survivors.

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers among American women, with about one in eight women expected to be diagnosed within her lifetime (according to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc). This month, we strive to increase awareness and encourage early detection with regular checkups and mammograms. We remind all breast cancer survivors and those currently facing breast cancer that they are not alone.
