Square's oldest restored Marion Bean, owner of Mid-South Sewing Center, unveils the newly restored facade of what is believed to be the oldest existing structure on the Public Square. Experts think the building was constructed in 1810, only seven years after the founding of Rutherford County and almost 50 years before the Courthouse was built. When a layer of plaster was removed from the exterior brick, the building's original Flemish bond brick laid in a "header and stretcher" pattern was revealed.
