This past week, we celebrated a new apparatus to the New Bern Fire-Rescue fleet with a tradition that dates back to the earliest days of the fire service: a push-in ceremony for our 2026 Spartan Metro Star!
In the days of horse-drawn apparatus, firefighters would return to the station and physically push their equipment back into the bay. In 2026, we carry on that tradition as we welcome this new engine into service.
A new fire truck is more than a piece of equipment. It represents an investment in our firefighters, our department, and the community we serve. It becomes another piece of equipment we will learn, train on, and trust with our lives.
We are grateful for the support that makes opportunities like this possible. Every piece of equipment we bring into service comes with a responsibility to know it, maintain it, and operate it as an extension of ourselves.
Thank you to everyone who played a part in approving this truck, from start to finish. We extend our sincere thanks to Atlantic Coast Fire Trucks for their work in bringing this new apparatus to our fleet, and to the City of New Bern, NC Government for its continued support and investment in New Bern Fire-Rescue.
A very special βthank youβ to our departmentsβ Apparatus Committee, who worked tirelessly to research and select such a beautiful engine. π
Hereβs to many years of service and bringing our crews home safely after every call.
