👻🎃 1,024 REASONS TO BE SPOOKTACULAR!

A HUGE congratulations to our 1,024 Canyon High School students who earned Honor Roll for the first nine weeks! 📚🌟

We had a spooktacular time celebrating your hard work and academic achievements today! From sweet treats to some seriously creative Halloween costumes, it was a fun way to recognize our amazing students!

🏆 HONOR ROLL YARD SIGNS: If you haven’t picked yours up yet, they are available in the front office!

🧡 A SPECIAL THANK YOU to all of our wonderful PTSA volunteers who came out to help! Your time, energy, and willingness to lend a hand made today’s celebration possible. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Friday, October 30, is your final opportunity to vote early in the 2026 Comal ISD Bond Election!

🏫 WHAT’S INCLUDED IN BOND 2026 FOR OUR CANYON SCHOOLS?

We want to help our Canyon families stay informed about the projects proposed for schools in our feeder pattern!

📚 PROPOSITION A would fund projects including:

🐾 Canyon High School expansion using the adjacent administrative building, along with HVAC, electrical, and plumbing improvements.

🐾 New CTE and art classrooms at Canyon Middle School.

🐾 Woodshop renovations at Church Hill Middle School.

🐾 Facility improvements at several elementary campuses, plus classroom technology and exterior door lock upgrades throughout the feeder pattern.

💻 PROPOSITION B would fund replacement and additional technology devices for students, teachers, and office staff.

💰 Comal ISD projects that both propositions could be funded within the district’s existing tax rate if approved by voters.

📅 Election Day: Tuesday, November 3

We encourage all eligible voters to learn about both propositions, ask questions, and make an informed decision.

Can school bond money be used to cover everyday operating expenses? 🤔

🚫 NOPE! NOT TRUE!

Under Texas law, school bond proceeds are restricted to capital projects, not the day-to-day costs of running our schools.

🏫 Bond funds may be used for:
✅ Building new schools
✅ Renovating and improving existing facilities
✅ Purchasing land
✅ Purchasing school buses
✅ Eligible technology and equipment

💰 Expenses like teacher and administrator salaries, utilities, and routine classroom supplies are paid through the district’s operating budget—not bond proceeds!

With the 2026 Comal ISD Bond Election approaching, we’re helping Cougar Nation separate the facts from the myths!

🎨✨ Calling All Creative Cougars!

It's time to let your creativity shine! The 2026–2027 National PTA Reflections Art Program is here, and we want to see what our Canyon students can create!

This year's theme is:

🌎 “What My Culture Means to Me” 🌎

Reflections gives students the opportunity to express their creativity, share their perspectives, and tell their stories through the arts.

🎭 Why participate?
⭐ Showcase your creativity and artistic talents
⭐ Explore what this year's theme means to you
⭐ Have the opportunity to earn recognition at the school, district, state, and even national levels
⭐ Build your portfolio for future college and scholarship applications

🎨 Students can submit original work in six categories:

Dance Choreography

Literature

Music Composition

Visual Arts

📅 Important Dates:

Thursday, November 12: Local advancing entries are due to the Comal ISD Council of PTAs.

Tuesday, March 30, 2027: Comal ISD Reflections Ceremony for advancing entries.

Review the official program rules and complete the Student Entry Form. Entries must be original, inspired by this year's theme, and accompanied by a completed entry form.

📣 Texas PTA Rally Day 2027!

Have you ever wanted to learn more about the issues impacting public education in Texas? Here's your opportunity!

On Monday, February 22, 2027, PTA members and supporters from across the state will gather at the Texas Capitol in Austin for Texas PTA Rally Day! 🏛️

This event, held every two years, brings together PTA members, students, families, and community advocates to learn about legislation affecting public education and hear directly from Texas legislators and PTA leaders.

What can you expect?
🏛️ Hear from state legislators and Texas PTA leaders
📚 Learn about current education legislation and PTA legislative priorities
🎤 Participate in discussions and a Q&A session
📣 Enjoy a Capitol rally featuring speakers, cheerleaders, choirs, and bands from across Texas!

🗓️ Rally Day: Monday, February 22, 2027
📝 Interest Form Deadline: Monday, November 9, 2026

Interested in attending?

The Comal Council of PTAs is gathering interest to help plan transportation, meals, and T-shirts.

Completing the interest form is NOT a commitment to attend! Official registration will open in January 2027.

Transportation by bus is being planned, and attendees will also have the option to drive themselves. Lunch and a T-shirt are expected to be included with official registration.
