The Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office has received reports of individuals claiming to represent the agency and demanding payment over the phone. These calls are not from the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office. Residents are urged to be aware and vigilant as these predatory practices continue in Orleans and across the region. Recent reports claim that persons holding themselves out as Sheriff’s Office representatives are seeking payment by gift card in exchange for a release from jail to an ankle monitor program for first time offenders.
