In a period of rapid change, many Americans felt a sense of nostalgia and fear in the 1920s, prompting the rise of the Ku Klux Klan, particularly in the Upper Midwest. Presenting itself as a respectable, patriotic, Christian organization, the new K*K attracted millions of new members in the 1920s. Purchase your tickets now for the 2026 BCHS Annual Meeting to hear Dr. Anita Talsma-Gaul speak on "The (Not So) Invisible Empire: The K*K in Southwest Minnesota in the 1920s".

Tickets can be purchased on the BCHS Website or in person at the BCHS Museum or the New Ulm Chamber of Commerce.

Tomorrow is your last chance to get some delicious, freshly-popped popcorn from the 1914 Popcorn Wagon! Stop down to the BCHS Museum for something sweet at the Halloween Scavenger Hunt and stay to grab something salty at the Popcorn Wagon!

Our staff and volunteers have been hard at work the past few days getting the BCHS Museum ready for this Saturday's Halloween Scavenger Hunt! Bring the kids on down to the Museum for a fun activity and a treat! The Popcorn Wagon will be open in front of the Musuem from 10 am to 5 pm as well!

At this year's Holiday Open House, children are invited to come and take part in a St. Lucia's Day craft from 4-5 pm in our Explorer's Corner and then a St. Lucia's Day procession at 5 pm. The procession will end with some sweet treats for the children involved. St. Lucia's Day is a popular Swedish tradition celebrating the Festival of Light which takes place on December 13 each year.
