On Thursday, June 4th, CUNY held their Valedictorian and Salutatorian Reception at John Jay College. Representing CSI was President Timothy G. Lynch, Provost Nathalia Holtzman, salutatorian Ashley Villalva '26, and on behalf of University Student Senate, Rhoda Wilson '26.

The Anchor award is administered annually in each program within the Office of Community Educational Engagement to recognize those who show up not just with skill, but with heart, and a commitment to the long-term well-being of our students, our College, and our community. This year’s Creative Exchange Anchor Award went to Carolyn Giannola and the Dining Services Team at our end of year celebration last month. Their impact goes far beyond the meals they prepare—they help create the sense of community and belonging that defines the program.

From event planning, to the final moments when everything comes together, they brought kindness and excellence. There is care in every detail, pride in every dish, and a warmth in their service that our students truly feel.

Dining Services helped Creative Exchange bring its ideas to life—especially through our themed events and meal prep workshops—always going above and beyond to make each experience special, memorable, and inclusive.

What they do is not just about food; it is about creating moments in ways that are meaningful and lasting, where Creative Exchange students felt welcomed, valued, and celebrated.

It is with deep gratitude that Creative Exchange presented this year’s Anchor Award to Dining Services. This award is a small reflection of the immense appreciation we have for the care, dedication, and heart you bring to everything you do.

The tassels have been turned, but the memories made at CSI will last a lifetime. 🎓
