𝓢𝓮𝓻𝓰𝓮𝓪𝓷𝓽 𝓓𝓪𝓷𝓷𝔂 𝓒𝓱𝓪𝓯𝓲𝓷 𝓔.𝓞.𝓦. 𝓞𝓬𝓽𝓸𝓫𝓮𝓻 26, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of one of our own, Sergeant Danny Chafin. Today we grieve the loss of not only a fellow officer, but a valued member of our law enforcement family.

Sergeant Danny Chafin began his career with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office on October 2, 1989, serving as a telecommunicator. On February 4, 1993, he completed Basic Law Enforcement Training and continued his career as a sworn law enforcement officer, dedicating more than three decades of service to the citizens of Catawba County.

Behind every badge is a person who has chosen to serve others, make a difference and be part of something greater than themselves. The loss of Sergeant Chafin is deeply felt and our hearts are with the family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time.

We are grateful for the time and service that Sergeant Chafin contributed to serving our community. The commitment to public service is a responsibility we hold in the highest regard, and we honor his dedication.

Once a member of our law enforcement family, always a member of our family. Though Sergeant Chafin’s watch has ended here on earth his service and memory will never be forgotten.

Your service mattered, your life made a difference, and your memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who served alongside you.

Rest in peace, Sergeant Chafin. Your watch has ended; we will take it from here.
