Celebrating Our Cadets: Awards & Graduation

As part of our joint drill weekend with Seahawks Squadron back in August, we gathered for a special ceremony recognizing the accomplishments, dedication, and hard work of our cadets.

We were proud to recognize cadets for their achievements and present awards honoring their efforts throughout the year. We also took time to celebrate our graduating seniors and cadets completing their time in the program.

Graduation is a bittersweet milestone. We're incredibly proud of these cadets and the growth they've demonstrated throughout their time in the Sea Cadet program. They've spent years learning, leading, serving, and building friendships, and we're excited to see how they carry those experiences into their next chapters.

To our graduating cadets: thank you for being part of the Top Hatters family and for the example you've set for those who will follow in your footsteps. While your time in the program may be coming to a close, the lessons you've learned, the friendships you've built, and the values you've developed will stay with you long after your final drill.

Congratulations to all our award recipients and graduates! We're proud of everything you've accomplished and wish you the very best in whatever comes next.

A special thank-you to our staff, volunteers, families, and fellow cadets who continue to support and encourage these young leaders.

Congratulations to Chief Petty Officer Bourbeau!

While we're a little late in sharing the news, this is an accomplishment worth celebrating.

Please join Top Hatters Sea Cadets Squadron in congratulating Chief Petty Officer Bourbeau on earning the rank of Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps.

Achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer is a significant milestone, earned through hard work, dedication, leadership, and a commitment to serving others. It is a testament to the character and perseverance required to lead by example.

The ceremony was made even more meaningful as his mother had the honor of pinning on his Chief anchors, while his father placed his Chief cover on him—a proud family moment that reflected the love, support, and encouragement that helped him reach this achievement.

Chief Bourbeau has grown into an exceptional leader within our squadron, and we are excited to see the impact he will continue to have as he mentors younger cadets and upholds the traditions of the Naval Sea Cadet Corps.

Congratulations, Chief Bourbeau! Your Top Hatters family is incredibly proud of you.

What a weekend for the Sea Cadets' Top Hatters, Seahawks, Corsairs, and more at the NAS Oceana Air Show! We definitely had a blast!

A weekend full of fun, education, recruiting, and even a visit from some of the crew at the U.S. Navy Blue Angels!

Welcome to TOP HATTERS!

A little different from our usual posts…

For a bit of fun, we decided to give the Top Hatters Sea Cadets Squadron the full television treatment—with a little inspiration from a classic military favorite.

This weekend, Top Hatters Sea Cadets Squadron and Seahawks Squadron came together for a joint drill filled with training, teamwork, and plenty of time to celebrate our cadets.

Cadets started the weekend with physical training, putting their teamwork and determination to the test. They also had the opportunity to talk about the summer trainings they participated in, sharing the experiences and lessons they brought back with them.

And, of course, no good drill weekend is complete without some time to relax together!

Cadets and staff enjoyed a cookout, giving everyone a chance to unwind, share some laughs, and build the camaraderie that makes the Sea Cadet experience special.

We then came together for a special ceremony recognizing the accomplishments of our cadets, including awards and achievements earned throughout the year.
The ceremony also gave us an opportunity to recognize our graduating seniors and cadets who are graduating from the program.

While we're always proud to see our cadets reach this milestone, saying goodbye is never easy. These cadets have spent years learning, leading, serving, and growing through the Sea Cadet program, and we are excited to see where their journeys take them next.

To all of our graduating cadets: thank you for being part of our program and for the example you've set for those who will follow you. Your time as cadets may be coming to an end, but the lessons, friendships, and experiences you've gained will stay with you long after you leave the program.

TOP HATTERS MAKE THEIR MARK NATIONWIDE!

The results are in for the 2025 Sea Cadet Squadron Inspections, and we couldn't be prouder of the Top Hatters Sea Cadets Squadron!

Out of squadrons across the nation, Top Hatters finished with the 3rd highest inspection score in the United States!

And that's not all...

We are incredibly honored to announce that Top Hatters has been named the winner of the Navy League of Canada Challenge Award!

This recognition is a reflection of the hard work, dedication, discipline, and teamwork demonstrated by our cadets, staff, and volunteers throughout the year. From training and community service to maintaining our standards and living the values of the Naval Sea Cadet Corps, this achievement belongs to everyone who contributes to making Top Hatters what it is.

Most importantly, this isn't just a score on an inspection sheet. It's a reflection of what our cadets are capable of accomplishing when they work together, challenge themselves, and take pride in what they do.

To our cadets: you earned this.

To our staff and volunteers: thank you for the countless hours spent teaching, mentoring, preparing, and supporting our cadets.

And to our families and supporters: thank you for being part of the Top Hatters family and helping our cadets reach new heights.

Today, as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States, we honor the courage, sacrifice, and vision of those who declared that our nation would be founded on the principles of liberty, opportunity, and self-government.

For 250 years, generations of Americans have answered the call to serve their communities and their country. At Top Hatters Sea Cadets Squadron, we are proud to play a small part in that enduring legacy by developing young leaders of character, integrity, and service.

Whether our cadets choose a future in the military, public service, or their local communities, the values they learn today—leadership, discipline, teamwork, and respect—help prepare them to make a positive difference tomorrow.

As we gather with family and friends to celebrate our nation's birthday, let us also remember those who have defended the freedoms we enjoy and those who continue to serve today.
