Last weekend, NNSS employees, family and friends came together to renovate the home of a low-income senior for National Make a Difference Day, contributing over 135 hours to improving Henderson neighborhoods with Rebuilding Together Southern Nevada.

The NNSS recently hosted a group of NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration personnel and UNLV students at its Nevada Space Proving Grounds (NSPG) for the Lunar Surface Operations Course (LSOC).

Participants engaged in a variety of simulated lunar surface activities including:
🌙 Simulated Extravehicular Activities (EVAs)
🌙 Traversal route planning
🌙 Extreme lighting navigation

🚒 This past weekend, the NNSS Fire & Rescue team had a great time connecting with our community at STEM Saturday to kick off National Fire Prevention Week. We shared fire safety tips and showcased some of our emergency response vehicles, including the fan-favorite 1951 Seagrave. Students met our Fire & Rescue team, handled fire and medical gear and equipment, and enjoyed the opportunity to spray a fire hose.

The National Nuclear Security Administration today successfully conducted a subsurface, non-nuclear chemical high-explosive experiment at the Nevada National Security Site, increasing the United States' ability to detect low-yield nuclear explosions.
