Do you know what NLFD loves more than training?

Training with our Mutual Aid partners!

Over the last couple of weeks we had Solon Fire Department use our training tower for search and victim removal and City of Coralville Fire Department use our burn boxes for live fire training.

Training together makes us all better on the fire ground no matter which community you live in. None of us can do it just by ourselves.

Team work makes the dream work. 🚒

Follow up to our grant from Christa Payne - Country Financial for the ring removal kit.

This morning we had a father & daughter walk-in for a 💍 painfully stuck on the daughter’s finger.

Lt. Roose, having recently completed training with the ring removal kit, skillfully and safely removed the ring much to the relief of the young patient.

It’s always rewarding when we can put our equipment and training to good use.

Thank you again Country Financial for the grant!

We are grateful to receive a $37,999 grant from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation to support our emergency response efforts. This funding was used to purchase a Polaris Ranger Crew XP 1000, helping ensure our department is better equipped to serve the citizens of North Liberty, Penn and Madison townships. Thank you to the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, our local Firehouse Subs restaurant in Iowa City, IA and the generous donors who made this possible!

We want to thank Christa Payne - Country Financial and the folks at Country Financial for supporting the North Liberty Fire Department by means of grant to help us purchase a ring removal kit. These grants mean the world to us, and have such a positive impact for our community. If you've never though about it, when a ring gets stuck on a finger, it's often the fire department that is called to assist. We are now better equipped, trained, and ready in the event you need us!

When one of our own is hurting, we stand together.

Please keep our brother Amery, his wife and two kiddos, and all those who love him in your thoughts and prayers as he continues to fight his way back. We’re behind you every step of the way. Stay strong, brother. We’ve got you

Back-to-School Safety Reminder – 🚌🚌🚌

Welcome to another school year, North Liberty! 📚

As students return to class, drivers are reminded to stay alert for school buses, pedestrians, and increased congestion around school zones. Please slow down, remain patient, and watch carefully for students traveling in all directions.

The Fire Department has also seen a significant rise in the use of micro‑mobility devices such as e‑bikes and e‑scooters 🛴 around town. Recently, several accidents have involved these devices.

Many young operators have limited experience with traffic rules and lack defensive operating skills—both of which increase the risk of injury.

Parents, please review these safety guidelines with your student rider:

1) Always wear a helmet.
2) Stop at crosswalks and look both ways for traffic before proceeding.
3) At controlled intersections, follow all pedestrian street signals.🚦
4) Only one person per device. Extra riders affect balance and the center of gravity, increasing the chance of a crash.
5) Always stop for emergency vehicles and never pass an emergency vehicle that is backing up. 🚒🚑🚓

Let’s work together to keep our students safe and ensure a successful start to the school year.👍
