Martin House, Inc. Providing dignified housing and wrap around supports for those battling Substance use disorder and/or a person experiencing mental health challenges.

Martin House serves individuals who are homeless or threatened with homelessness, the majority of who have histories of mental illness, are of low income, and are unemployed or under-employed. Over 90% of our residents have histories of mental illnesses. Many have a dual diagnosis of mental illness and substance abuse, developmental disabilities, or physical disabilities. Before coming to Martin House, many residents had been repeatedly admitted to Connecticut’s mental health institutions, and at intervals lived on the streets, in abandoned buildings, in tents in the woods, in cars or some other substandard living condition.

πŸ™βœ¨ A Heart Full of Gratitude βœ¨πŸ™

We are beyond grateful for the incredible generosity of The First Congregational Church of Old Lyme and their life-changing donation to our Food Security Program!

At Martin House, we believe that no one can focus on healing when they're worried about their next meal. That's why we are proud to provide 3 nourishing meals, every single day, 7 days a week for ALL of our residents β€” no exceptions, no barriers.

When the worry of "where will I eat today?" is removed, something powerful happens. Our residents can:

🎯 Focus on their recovery goals
πŸ“š Pursue their educational goals
πŸ’Ό Work toward their employment goals

Food is more than nourishment β€” it's stability. It's dignity. It's hope.

The First Congregational Church of Old Lyme understands that, and their generous support makes it all possible. πŸ’›

✨ 44 Years of Purpose, Passion & Community ✨

On September 18th, we had the absolute honor of marking a milestone that fills our hearts with overwhelming gratitude β€” our 44th Anniversary β€” surrounded by the very people who make our mission possible.

Forty-four years. Let that sink in. πŸ’›

None of it β€” not a single year, not a single moment β€” would have been possible without you. Our donors, volunteers, community partners, and friends are not just supporters β€” you are the heartbeat of everything we do.

Celebrating this evening with you by our side reminded us exactly why we do what we do. The warmth, the laughter, the generosity, and the love you poured into the room will stay with us long after the night ended. You showed up β€” and that means everything.

To our incredible sponsors and donors β€” your belief in our mission fuels our work every single day. Thank you for investing in something greater than all of us.

To our tireless volunteers β€” your time, energy, and dedication are gifts we never take for granted.

To our community partners and friends β€” thank you for walking this journey alongside us. Your presence is a blessing.

As we reflect on 44 years of impact, we step boldly into the future β€” with you. The best is truly yet to come. 🌟

We hope you enjoy these beautiful memories captured by the incredibly talented Magick In The Wild Photography πŸ“Έ β€” scroll through and relive the magic!

Such a great spotlight on our Kitchen Manager; Kimberly Veillette. ❀️

Meet Kimberly; a new member of the Martin House team who is already making a profound difference in the lives of their residents.

Consider this: Martin House serves 54 residents, 3 meals a day, 7 days a week β€” that's an incredible 59,130 meals per year. And Kimberly and her talented culinary staff accomplish this on a budget of just $2.09 per meal.

That's not just impressive β€” that's extraordinary. And it is why we congratulate her and highlight her efforts during this years’ Hunger Action Month. Congratulations, Kimberly!

πŸŽ‰ 24 Years. Countless Lives Changed. One Incredible Legacy.

Last week, we had the honor of celebrating Mike and his well-earned retirement after 24 remarkable years with Martin House, Inc.

Mike, words can barely capture what you've meant to this organization and to every person whose life you've touched. Your kindness, your advocacy, and your leadership didn't just shape Martin House β€” they defined it.

As a small token of our deep gratitude, we presented Mike with an award that read:
"Twenty-four years of kindness, advocacy, and leadership that didn't just contribute to this organization β€” they defined it. The lives changed and the difference made over more than two decades speak louder than words ever could.
Mike, your legacy is woven into everything we are and everything we will become. We are endlessly grateful β€” and you will never be forgotten."

Mike, as you close this incredible chapter, we wish you nothing but joy, adventure, and well-deserved rest in the exciting journey ahead. 🌟

Thank you for everything. ❀️

Connecticut's homelessness crisis is growing β€” and the numbers don't lie.

Unsheltered homelessness has skyrocketed 183% since 2022 β€” from 294 people to 833 people sleeping outside on any given night. That's nearly a 45% jump in just the last year alone.

This isn't a trend. It's an emergency.

Programs like Martin House, Inc. are on the front lines β€” but they need funding to keep up.

Connecticut must invest in Supportive Housing. The time to act is now.

We want to talk about why supportive housing is important:

Supportive housing combines affordable housing with support services that help people facing the most difficult challenges live with stability, autonomy, and dignity. Supportive housing is an innovative and evidence-based solution that helps people break the cycle of homelessness and thrive.

πŸŽ‰ A HUGE thank you to Eric McDermott! πŸŽ‰

When we needed it most, the McDermott family came through as a last-minute Gala sponsor β€” and honestly, that's just who they are. Their commitment to our mission never wavers! πŸ’›

But we're not just celebrating their generous donation today β€” we're also celebrating Eric McDermott for 6 incredible years of service to our organization! πŸ™Œ Six years of showing up, giving back, and making a real difference in the lives of those we serve.

The McDermott family doesn't just support us β€” they believe in us. And that means everything. ❀
