We're deeply thankful to for the funds that allow us to keep our Community Wellness Block Parties going. Their support means our neighbors have a place to gather, connect, and feel cared for month after month.

That's really what this afternoon is about. A few hours where women rebuilding their lives get to sit in a room full of people who believe in them.

We're an Oakland organization, and this Saturday we're bringing this gathering to Santa Cruz so this community can be part of it too. What we raise goes straight into the work, and the women we serve get to feel that they aren't doing it alone.

Your ticket is your seat. It also helps keep the door open for the next woman who walks through it.

Somos una organización de Oakland, y este sábado llevamos este encuentro a Santa Cruz para que esta comunidad también sea parte. Lo que recaudamos va directo al trabajo, y las mujeres a las que acompañamos sienten que no están solas en esto.

This June we're partnering with Owning My Own Truth for free virtual workshops on health, wellness, and recovery. Honest education on opioid and stimulant awareness, overdose prevention, and safer practices. Plus one-on-one support and referrals to services that can help.

Before the way we talk about women and recovery looked anything like it does now, Dr. Sushma D. Taylor was already doing the work.

She has led Center Point, Inc. since 1981, building one of California's most respected recovery organizations and reaching thousands of women and families every year. She became the first woman to lead both the Therapeutic Communities of America and the World Federation of Therapeutic Communities, a global body recognized by the UN, in a field long shaped by men.

Four decades of that work. The kind that changes a field without waiting for permission.

She joins us for An Afternoon of Strength & Serenity. Her story is one of many that afternoon.
