β˜€οΈ DAY 2 (Part 1): Mental Health & The Mindset of a Teen πŸ§ πŸ’Ό

We kicked off the morning of Day 2 at the Youth Crime Prevention Summit with a powerful mentoring session led by Mr. Robens Chery, titled β€œI’m not Angry….. Encourage me.”

The insights into youth wellness were eye-opening and a true reminder of why our work with Future Leaders United (FLU) matters:

πŸ”Ή Behavior is communication. When a young person acts out, they are communicating what they are going through inside.
πŸ”Ή The Mask of Anger: Anger often hides deeper trauma, anxiety, depression, shame, or environmental stress.
πŸ”Ή Real Mentorship: We can’t just react to bad behavior. We have to build genuine relationships and reward the good.

As Mr. Chery shared: β€œReach them where they are to get them where you want them to be.”
UFCF remains fiercely committed to meeting our students exactly where they are, breaking the stigma around youth mental health, and pouring into them with love and encouragement! πŸ’™

Stay tuned for Part 2 this afternoon, where we dive into the hands-on tech, workshops, and police forums! πŸš¨πŸ›Έ

Last week, the United Foundation of Central Florida, Inc. was honored to receive a $10,000 Community Crime Prevention Award from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in support of our Youth Innovation & Empowerment Initiative (UFCF-YIEI). UFCF-YIEI is an intentional expansion of our Future Leaders United After-School Enrichment & Mentoring Program that has been in the works for quite sometime!

We extend our sincere gratitude to Sheriff John W. Mina and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office for continuing to invest in organizations that are working every day to uplift youth, strengthen families, and build safer communities across Orange County.

This investment will help us continue creating transformative opportunities for young people through mentorship, leadership development, education, innovation, and empowerment programming that prepares the next generation for success.

We also want to congratulate all of the incredible organizations recognized alongside us. The work being done throughout our community is changing lives and creating lasting impact for countless families. Together, we are proving what is possible when community organizations, public safety leaders, and local partners work hand in hand for the betterment of our neighborhoods.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support the mission and vision of UFCF. The work continues. πŸ’™
