There is no substitute for the bond that exists between a mother and her offspring. Survival skills are passed down from generation to generation, and in an ever changing world, the need to preserve nature’s delicate balance, has never been greater. At The Orphaned Wildlife Center our goal is to provide safety and nurturing to animals that are truly orphaned and prepare them to be return to a life in the wild. Through our efforts, we hope to encourage people to respect and enjoy our native wildlife.

Some more box shenanigans with Amy. Bears are so curious and love to play!

Amy and Jenny helping to break down our boxes for recycling.

Jenny: “I’m NOT going to play with the kayak today, I’m NOT going to play with the kayak today, I’m NOT going to play with the kayak today…OH YES I AM!!!!!!”

Amy’s little ears are so cute. Why are bears so darn cute??

We gave Jenny a kayak and she immediately promoted herself to Pond Patrol Captain, and has banned all co-captains and passengers.

Kimmy relaxing and having a good soak. Contemplating if she needs a manicure.
Many of you have asked if we clip the bears claws - for the most part, we do not, they need them for digging and other things…but occasionally (rarely) we have had to on a few of the bears in the past.

Jenny is just a bear, out there trying to relax, but, well, Amy is being Amy.

With all this bad weather stuff going on, I figured we could all use a little of Jenny in her swing. Nothing better than watching a bear in a swing, unless it is a bear in kayak. Haha

I know you are always surprised when we mention how much bears like to graze on grass and clover, so Randy helped us out by demonstrating a little. Thanks Randy!
