LC Community-
One of the things I believe is so important in education is making sure our students understand the opportunities that are waiting for them beyond high school. Sometimes the best way to learn about those opportunities is to get outside the classroom and see firsthand what is happening in the workforce right here in East Texas!
Today, Mr. Carnes and Ms. Venegas took a group of our LC students to visit Keeprite Refrigeration, Cleveland Steel, and Wagner Tuning.
Keeprite specializes in manufacturing commercial refrigeration equipment used in businesses and industries across the country. Cleveland Steel Container, located in Kilgore, is one of the largest manufacturers of steel pails in the country. Their operation uses advanced manufacturing technology and automation to produce steel containers that are shipped to businesses across North America. Wagner Tuning specializes in high-performance automotive parts and cooling systems.
All three companies are great examples of the opportunities available in manufacturing, engineering, and skilled trades right here in our own backyard.
I want to give a special thank you to Cleveland Steel, Keeprite Refrigeration, and Wagner Tuning for opening their doors and allowing our students to visit today. Experiences like these give our students a chance to see what is possible beyond high school and hopefully spark an interest in a career they may have never considered.
I also appreciate Mr. Carnes and Ms. Venegas for taking the time to make these opportunities available to our students. Our responsibility is not just to get students across the graduation stage. It is to help prepare them for whatever comes next, whether that is college, technical training, the military, or entering the workforce.
