What Feeds You - Gracie Murt
"I think what feeds me is human connection. I am a people person to my core. I love getting to know people, hearing their stories, and building relationships within my community. Meeting and being with people of all different backgrounds, with different interests and experiences, is one of the coolest things we have as humans. I believe some of the most meaningful moments in life happen when we come together and are there for one another.
In my career, I have always struggled with feeling like I was not doing enough good through my work. I love my job and what I do, but I always felt like I could do more with my community. I believe we all have a responsibility to use our talents and resources to help others when we can. I am fortunate to get to spearhead an annual food drive at my workplace each year during our Thanksgiving potluck. I also have had the pleasure of turning my hobby of baking into opportunities to give back through bake sales that support local organizations that do so much good in our community.
Giving back feeds my sense of purpose. Seeing a community come together to help neighbors remind me that compassion and empathy are some of our greatest strengths. There’s a lot of bad in this world and it is so easy to let negativity weigh us down, but I like to think that the good will always outweigh the bad. There are so many people and organizations making a difference every day, and if I can contribute to that in any way, I always will.
What feeds me most is knowing that we are all connected. Whether it’s sharing a meal, lending a helping hand, or just taking the time to care about someone else’s story, those moments remind me of what truly matters. Food nourishes our bodies, but community, service, and human connection is what feed our souls."
