🧂 Painesville Township is ready for winter!

With the recent news surrounding the water breach and closure of the Morton Salt Mine, I wanted to share an update on where Painesville Township stands with our road salt supply for the upcoming winter.

On average, the Township uses approximately 1,200 tons of salt each winter, with usage increasing to as much as 1,600 tons during winters with heavier demand.

The photo below shows the Township taking delivery of 500 tons of salt earlier this month.

The good news? We’re fully stocked and ready for winter, with 2,200 tons of salt on hand! We also have an additional 1,000 tons on order for delivery between now and next summer.

Planning ahead helps us prepare for whatever Northeast Ohio winter throws our way and keep our roads as safe as possible.

⚠️Lake County Engineer Alan L. Exley announced Friday that a portion of Mill Morr Road will be closed for construction.

Exley said if weather permits, construction will begin Monday and focus on realignment at the Jackson Street intersection.

Traffic that needs to use Mill Morr Road will be detoured onto Jackson Street, Hopkins Road in Mentor and U.S. Route 20 (Mentor Avenue), Exley said.

Residential areas south of the pending road closure will still be accessible via U.S. Route 20.

Phillips Paving LLC will provide the improved intersection alignment.

Mill Morr Road will reopen once road work is complete, Exley said.
