Empowering families facing homelessness to transform their lives

Last Saturday, our Alumni enjoyed a well-deserved spa day filled with relaxation, encouragement, and community. Because healing doesn't end when a family leaves our program—and neither does our commitment to walking alongside them. 💜

The day included manicures, makeovers, haircuts, facials, and more. Thank you to all those who provided support and services for the special day!

Last week, our Homelessness Prevention Program celebrated Mother’s Day with meaningful moments of connection—enjoying quality time together, capturing memories with Polaroids, and sharing in a joyful raffle. 💐

A heartfelt thank you to Sandy and Herman Hui for providing a delicious meal and helping make these moms feel so celebrated and cared for.

🎓✨We were so proud to celebrate Tamika and her son Elijah last week as they reached this incredible moment together. ✨🎓

After experiencing the devastation of the Eaton Fire and walking through a season of uncertainty, their perseverance and determination led to this joyful achievement. 💛

Graduations like this remind us that hope continues beyond hardship, and that every step forward deserves to be celebrated. Join us in congratulating Tamika and Elijah on all they have accomplished — and all that lies ahead! 👏🎉

A special thank you to Mi Piace for generously providing dinner for this celebration and thank you to Arcadia Chinese Baptist Church for providing the cake! You both made the evening so meaningful for our families. 🍝🍰

🌼🧡 This month we’re celebrating our Employee Highlight, Wendi, for the care, encouragement, and positivity she brings to the families and staff at Door of Hope! 🧡🌼

Wendi’s supervisor, Regina, shares: “I appreciate Ms. Wendi for the joy that she brings to both her fellow staff members and the families she serves. I also appreciate her willingness to draw upon her lived experience as she serves our alumni families.”

Next month also marks Wendi’s 5-year anniversary at Door of Hope! 🎊

Thank you, Wendi, for the compassion, wisdom, and support you bring to the alumni families you walk alongside every day. 💐

Last week, the Door of Hope team gathered in Rancho Palos Verdes for our 2026 Staff Retreat — a time to rest, reflect, reconnect, and prepare for the year ahead. 🌿✨

From African drumming and coastal hikes to team planning and meaningful moments of prayer, devotion, and worship, this retreat was a reminder of the strength of community and the importance of caring for one another as we continue this work together.

We’re grateful for the space to pause, grow, and return refreshed for the journey ahead. 💙

✨ Last Saturday, we were blessed to welcome two amazing church groups who jumped in to help with much-needed projects around our homes! 💙

🙏 A huge thank you to CA Eagle Rock for sending incredible volunteers who deep-cleaned the inside, assembled shelves, and organized the items that had been sitting on the garage floor!

🎨 At the same time, the Lake Avenue Men's group generously donated their time to give the picnic benches at another house a fresh new look with a much-needed repaint and glow-up!

We are so grateful for every volunteer who gave their time, energy, and heart to serve our families and make our homes more welcoming and beautiful. Thank you all!

A huge thank you to all the generous donors who made Mother’s Day so special for the moms in our program. 💐

We are so grateful to The Links Pasadena, Glendale Presbyterian Church, Girl Scout Troop 7671, and a wonderful women’s life group for preparing beautiful gift bags so that every mom received a gift of her own. A thoughtful bride also blessed our homes with gorgeous centerpieces from her wedding.

These acts of kindness remind our moms that they are not alone — that our community is standing beside them as they rebuild their lives and create a brighter future for their families. We are so grateful for your love and support. ❤️
