This week, students read the One Book, One Philadelphia children’s companion “How to Grow A Family Tree” by Bea Birdsong. After the reading, students discussed how family is made up of people they love and then worked on creating their own family trees. 🌳 ❤️

A big thank you to Ms. Elizabeth and Sharif from for helping us get a jump-start on our office book inventory! This is a project we have wanted to tackle for a long time. Your work is going to make it much easier for us to quickly respond to student book requests in our partner school libraries! 😊

On National Library Workers Day, WePAC would like to recognize the invaluable contributions of ALL library workers—paid, unpaid, work study students, interns, parents, and community members—who promote book and knowledge access.

Scientists from the Microbiology Department came to students at Powel yesterday! In addition to sharing about their areas of expertise, they also read aloud Jalen Hurts’ book “Better Than A Touchdown.” Powel’s scholars left the library knowing they too can achieve their , whether that’s being an athlete or a scientist! Thank you, MicroIDEAs, for encouraging student curiosity and for your beautiful book donations!
