Price County AODA/Mental Health Coalition Note: Name has changed to Price County Substance Use & Mental Health Coalition
Vision: Strong Families; Strong Communities

In 2011, Price County Public Health and Flambeau Hospital began working on a community needs assessment and identified that mental health and AODA were community needs. As a result of the assessment, the Price County AODA/Mental Health Coalition was formed, with representation from local professionals including health, law, school, and counseling. The coalition has since developed an annual process of setting goals that align with the Community Heath Needs Assessment, which is now completed every three years under the direction of Price County Health and Human Services and Marshfield Clinic Health System. Supporting these goals are specific strategies for creating lasting change and improved outcomes around mental health and the reduced use of alcohol, medications, and other drugs. If you are interested in learning more or joining the coalition, please contact Amanda Kozak at Price County Public Health (715-339-3054) or email [email protected]. We are continuously looking for other individuals and agencies to join our efforts!

There are many times that unused/expired medications find their way into the wrong hands. Which results in dangerous and tragic situations. One way the DEA and other agencies are reducing the risks are providing medication take back locations.

We are fortunate within Price County, local law enforcement are partners in reducing the risk by providing a safe drop off location for residents to get rid of their medications.

Our locations in Price County include:
Park Falls Police Department (400 4th Ave S, Park Falls)
Price County Sheriff's Office (164 Cherry St, Phillips)

If you are unable to make a drop off location, please see description below that talks about a low barrier option for at home safe disposal with drug deactivation bags!

A testimonial from an individual who was needing support!

“In a moment of supreme vulnerability and when I felt like I had no one else, I called 988 and was proven so wrong. The man I spoke with was absolutely amazing, supportive, comforting, trustworthy and helped me so much. It means so much to have a stranger care and listen when you feel like there is no one around.”

988 Day is September 8. 988 Day was created as a day of action to raise awareness of 988 and its positive impact on individual and community health, safety, and well-being.

The theme for 2026 is "988 Reasons: Your Reason is Reason Enough." This theme reminds us that you don’t have to be in crisis to reach out to 988.

Check out our page throughout the day to learn and receive resources that 988 can offer!
