Did you know that private well owners may be able to test their drinking water for PFAS for free?

Through the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources’ Wisconsin PFAS Private Well Testing (WisPPWT) program, eligible applicants can receive a FREE home sampling kit, prepaid return shipping, and laboratory analysis to determine PFAS concentrations. This program is intended for private wells that have not previously been sampled by the DNR and are not being tested through a municipal Community Grants Sampling Program. Applicants can begin by completing the DNR’s online eligibility questionnaire, which can be found at the link here: https://dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/PFAS/WisPPWT.html

Radon is an odorless, radioactive gas that is naturally present in the ground and can enter buildings through the foundations. Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer overall and the leading cause of lung cancer for non-smokers.

Find out if your home has high radon levels with an easy, do-it-yourself test kit. The health department offers short-term radon test kits for only $7.

It’s Male Breast Cancer Awareness Week.

While breast cancer in men is rare, it is often diagnosed at a later stage, making it harder to treat.

Awareness of male breast cancer is important so that more men report abnormalities or symptoms to their doctor early, instead of brushing them off.

Today is Global Handwashing Day!

At school, clean hands help create a healthier environment where students can learn, play, and thrive. Encourage students to make handwashing with soap part of their daily routine—before eating, after using the bathroom, after playing outside, and after coughing or sneezing.
