Dear Pownal Neighbors,
A Note About Our Fire Department Heroes
Pownal is blessed with firefighters who are always there when our community needs them. They give their time, energy, and sometimes leave important moments in their own lives to respond to fires, accidents, and emergencies.
I want to recognize a few of our quiet heroes:
Jeff Miller Jr. has helped us decorate the Community Tree, brings Santa in the fire truck every year, and is now working on the Haunted House fundraiser for a much-needed new firehouse.
Jamie Elwell made beautiful signs for our 4th Annual Witches’ Walk while recovering from surgery for a shattered heel.
Bill Baker has helped the Historical Society move furniture, make signs, and with previous Witches’ Walk events.
Eddie Pascucci has supported many community events over the years and is always willing to help.
And there are so many other Fire Department members who deserve our gratitude. I wish I could name them all!
They are more than firefighters.
They are our neighbors, our friends, and our heroes.
Now, some of our firefighters are working hard to raise funds for a new Pownal Valley Fire House.
Last week, Jeff Miller Jr. was working on Haunted House props for their Fund Raiser next month, when he learned a community member needed help moving a food cart. He stopped to help, then returned to his work.
That is the kind of dedication we are fortunate to have in Pownal.
I am asking you to join me in giving back.
Please consider making a donation to the Pownal Valley Fire Department new Fire House Fund.
Add a note sharing why they are your heroes, so it can be displayed on an “Honor” wall at the Firehouse for all to see. Let’s cover the Wall with notes showing our firefighters how much they mean to us and help them build the firehouse they deserve!
Send your check to Pownal Valley Fire Department, PO Box 345 Pownal, VT 05261 Please don’t forget your note for the wall and state the money is for the new Fire House fund.
Come on, Neighbors! Let's stand behind our heroes!
With gratitude,
Joyce Held
