Our annual Trunk or Treat will be this Sunday, October 18th from 2 pm to 4 pm at Memorial Park.

This Tuesday evening, QFD Volunteers spent the training night working on a rope rescue review from some classes we had earlier in the summer. We also incorporated UTV 57 using it as an anchor point or a place for a change of direction if faced with a rescue in an inaccessible area with no other good anchor points. We also went over and used the front mounted winch and discussed scenarios in where this might be used for fires and rescue work.

Nice job by all involved on practicing this "perishable skillset".

This week, QFD continued with fire safety at Wee Friends Preschool in Mechanic Grove. The company was there Tuesday and Wednesday giving the kids some fire safety and prevention tips and letting them see and tour Engine 574.

Thanks to Wee Friends for the cases of water and to the volunteers helped out.

Thank you to EVERYONE who helped make the benefit raffle for Loie and the Swayne Family possible. With your help, we were able to raise ove $10,000 that can be used to help in whatever is needed.

As you most likely know, Loie passed away last Thursday evening after her battle with cancer.

We have all been blessed and are better people for knowing Loie and having her as our friend. She will be missed.

Here is a list of winners of the raffle prizes. We have a video of the drawing and will attempt to post it as we can. We will contact all the winners by email Thursday to let them know pick up instructions etc.

Thanks again to everyone who donated prizes, made monetary donations and who bought chances. Our community is one of the best!

We hate to do this, but.......

Due to the forecasted weather for Sunday, we sre going to postpone the annual QFD Trunk or Treat until Sunday October 18th.

We are not normally one to cancel early, but with all the people involved and moving pieces to pull off a successful trunk or treat, this was our best option.

If you are from the Solanco area, you have probably noticed the construction that is part of the Northeast Supply Enhancement Project of the https://www.facebook.com/WilliamsEnergyCo

The New Quarryville Loop with 10.1 miles of 42-inch-diameter pipeline loop in Quarryville, Lancaster County. Much of this construction is in the QFD first-due area (we cover appx. 8 miles of the pipeline right-of way).

Over the last several months, representatives from our company, led by Lt. Matt Vickers, have met with Williams to talk about funding for our new tanker.

At the October business meeting, Williams representative Mike Atchie presented us with a check for $75,000.00. This was a surprise to most everyone in attendance.

We would like to thank Williams and Mike Atchie for making this possible and working with us throughout the process. Our members and our community are grateful that we were able to secure this funding that will ultimately help pay for our new tanker when it arrives in 2027/2028.

At 6:97 pm Wednesday, QFD and Wakefield EMS responded to the 600 block of Scotland Road in East Drumore Township for a vehicle accident with rollover. Chief 57 arrived with a pickup overturned after striking the bridge with no injuries.

Hazards were controlled, spills contained and traffic controlled by QFD Fire Police. The Company was in service 1 hour and 15 minutes.
