Weatherization is a program many households may not realize they qualify for.
Missouri Ozarks Community Action offers it as a hand up rather than a handout, with the goal of making homes more energy efficient, safer, and more comfortable for the people living in them. Eligibility is based on gross income, with limits set at 200% of the federal poverty guidelines, and qualifying households pay no cost.
The process starts with an audit of your home. Our inspector runs a blower door test to find air leakage, measures doors and windows, checks insulation levels in the attic, floor, and walls, and tests any combustion appliances to confirm they're working properly. Those results determine which measures make sense for your particular home.
Renters are eligible as well. Your landlord signs an agreement not to raise the rent for two years without just cause, and we serve single-family houses, mobile homes, and multi-family buildings of up to four units.
Wait times vary by county, so October is a good month to apply and get your name in.
