This Saturday, we'll dedicate Fosdick's Landing in memory of the late Mayor George Fosdick.

A lifelong resident, Mayor Fosdick spent his life in service to Ridgefield Park. He was a 60-year member of the Ridgefield Park Fire Department (Truck Co. No. 2) and served as Chief in 1983. He was elected to the Board of Commissioners in 1984 and served for 36 years, including 28 years as Mayor, while also serving as Village Historian. An Eagle Scout, he stayed active in Scouting his entire life, and he was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 194 F&AM Ridgefield Park. He supported our local fraternal organizations, sports teams, and clubs, and you could find him at nearly every event they hosted, or just walking through town talking with neighbors.

He often reminded us that Ridgefield Park is a peninsula, bordered on three sides by water, and that we should make the most of our place at the water's edge. A new dock is now in place at the landing, where canoes and kayaks can launch.
