🎃🧪 A Spooktacular Day of STEM! 🕷️🍬

Things got a little spooky (and we had a whole lot of fun!) during our Halloween STEM Day, hosted by Mrs. Putnam and Mrs. Black, with special help from Mr. Putnam, Ms. Smith, Mrs. Hautala, and Ms. Megan!

As a special PBIS incentive, participating students had the opportunity to rotate through three Halloween-themed STEM challenges: launching candy with catapults, brewing bubbling concoctions in the Witch's Potion Lab, and engineering spiderwebs strong enough to hold some creepy-crawly visitors! 🕸️

Throughout the day, students practiced predicting, experimenting, problem-solving, and teamwork—all while enjoying a little Halloween magic! We wrapped up our spooky festivities with a Halloween story to wind down before returning to class.

We loved celebrating our students' positive choices with a day full of creativity, curiosity, and hands-on fun! 👻🧡

🐿️🌎 Walnut Squirrels Are Traveling Across America! 🦕🦖

Our Walnut students are traveling across America by showing positive behavior! 🎉

They have earned their first classroom reward, and their first stop was California! ☀️🌴

Students became little paleontologists as they dug for dinosaurs! 🦕🔎 Every class earned a dinosaur dig adventure for their hard work and positive choices!

We are so proud of our Walnut Squirrels! 💜💛 Keep making great choices as we travel across America!

Where will our squirrels travel next? 🐿️🗺️

🚒🔥 Fire Safety Fun at Walnut Elementary! 🔥🚒

Our 1st graders had a special visit from the Rock Springs Fire Department!

Students were amazed as they watched our firefighters gear up in just 30 seconds! They also learned important fire safety tips to help keep themselves and their families safe.

A HUGE thank you to the Rock Springs Fire Department for taking the time to visit our students and teach them such valuable lessons! We appreciate all you do to keep our community safe!

🩺🏥📚 Calling All Doctors! Our 2nd Graders Are in Surgery! 🐿️💜💛

Our Walnut 2nd graders traded in their pencils for surgical tools as they became doctors for the day! 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️ Their mission? To perform Text Feature Surgery! 🔎📖

Our little surgeons had a blast exploring and identifying text features while making learning fun and hands-on!

A HUGE shout-out to Rock Springs Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County for generously donating the surgical gear that helped bring this exciting learning experience to life! We appreciate your support in making learning memorable for our students! ❤️

A huge thank you to the Rock Springs Tigers Athletes for Literacy for visiting Walnut Elementary and taking the time to read with our students!

Walnut students had a blast showing their school spirit in support of our Tigers during Homecoming Week! 💜💛 From dressing up as their favorite artists and bands to rocking bright colors and glitter, and showing off their western gear, our students brought the fun and excitement all week long!
