It’s been a busy October for RHFD, with members responding to over 30 calls for service so far this month.

Yesterday, crews responded as the second-due company to a chimney fire in Montgomery Township, working alongside our mutual aid partners to assist with fire suppression operations, including aerial bucket operations and saw work.

Also yesterday, members responded to a residence in Rocky Hill Borough for a leaking battery. Following an initial investigation alongside Montgomery Township Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 the Somerset County Hazardous Materials Response Team was requested to assist with the incident.

Earlier this month, RHFD responded to a working structure fire in Montgomery Township, where crews stretched a hoseline through the Charlie side of the structure and assisted with search and overhaul operations.

Beyond these incidents, our members have handled a wide range of emergencies throughout October, including an elevator entrapment, carbon monoxide investigations with confirmed CO readings, natural gas leaks, a cat rescue, and other calls for service.

RHFD remains committed to serving our community and supporting our mutual aid partners throughout southern Somerset County, whenever needed.

September is National Preparedness Month, and this year’s theme, “Americans Stand Ready,” encourages everyone to protect themselves and their loved ones by planning ahead. One step you can take toward being more prepared is having an emergency kit ready to go with essentials like water, nonperishable food, flashlights, batteries, and first aid supplies, along with any specific items your family and pets may need.
