Happy National First Responders Day!
Today, we recognize the firefighters, paramedics, EMTs, police officers, 911 dispatchers, and all first responders who answer the call when their communities need them most.

Earlier this week, through our partnership with VHRC's West Piedmont , we were able facilitate the placement of a OneBox at the Franklin Heights Church Rocky Mount and Boones Mill campuses! These boxes provide on-demand training with naloxone and personal protective equipment in the event of an opioid overdose in a public area. Similar to how an AED works!

Why is this important?
💜 Opioid overdoses are not always the result of stereotypical “drug use”, something as simple as accidentally taking too much prescribed pain medications could cause one.
💜 Boxes like these start conversations. The more we can do to encourage thoughtful conversations and provide education on substance use and overdoses, the more likely we are to make a positive impact on our communities. Even if just ONE person is affected and chooses to seek help, carry naloxone, or pass the conversation on that could be life-saving!

If you are interested in a OneBox or opioid overdose education, send us a message on here or reach out to our Community Medicine Program! https://www.fcpublicsafety.com/907/Community-Medicine-Program

💙✨Last week, the Community Medicine Program was able to donate the surplus of supplies and equipment from the medical supply drive to other agencies that help our Franklin County citizens! ✨💙

We took several packages of adult incontinence supplies to STEP, Inc. ‘s diaper pantry, and multiple rollators to Disability Rights & Resource Center !

💙STEP, inc. has a diaper pantry that supports all ages, from infant to adult, as well as providing so many additional goods and services to the area.

✨Disability Rights & Resource Center provides medical equipment and other support services to anyone struggling with any disability or medical condition in our area.

Both of these organizations collect donations year-round and serve adults, children, and families in Franklin County. If you are interested in donating, volunteering, or still have medical supplies you are trying to part with, please reach out to them!

Franklin County, you all showed UP for the equipment drive this past weekend! Our Community Medicine Program’s first annual Medical Equipment Drive can be considered a HUGE success! ❤️🚑

We had over 100 items donated, between medical equipment, supplies, and other care assistance supplies! We had so much stuff donated, that in the coming days we will be sharing the love by passing on some of these supplies to other area organizations. This way, all this equipment and supplies can be given back to the people in our community who need it as soon as possible! We are so excited about the success of this event, and hope to do it again in the future.
